He who restrains:
Christians have been warned, that before the Lord returns, 2 Thessalonians 2:3, "there will come a falling away first,' before the man of sin is revealed, also called the son of perdition."

2 Thessalonians 2:7-8, “For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth (restrains, will do so) until he is taken out of the way. And then shall the Wicked (lawless one) be revealed, whom the Lord (Jesus) shall consume with the spirit (breath) of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders”

The counterwork to the above is the mystery of godliness.

1 Timothy 3:16, “Without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God (Jesus) was manifest in the flesh, justified in the (Holy) Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”

In 2 Thessalonians, we have three pronouns in these verses. So, we are speaking of male individuals.

Questions: Who do you think the restrainer is? And why?

And who is do you think the lawless one is?

Whoever the restrainer is when taken out of the way, the mystery will then be an open manifestation. A system of corrupt doctrine that will lead to the general apostasy, an apostasy that has existed since John's Day.

Abaddon/Apollyon works for God by destroying the wicked in the Lake of Fire. He also keeps the Fallen Angles in chains.

It is this 'Strong Man' that must be taken out of the way so that the wicked ones can escape.

The False Prophet is given the Key to the Bottomless Pit to help the Man of Sin sit in the Body Temple.

In other words, the False Prophet will prepare a Body for Satan to inhabit. That is the Image of the Beast.

God is not going to dissolve the Heavens and Earth because someone has a different faith, religion, belief, etc. than you. That is not what Salvation is about.

Let me add a thought to that. John sees two beasts. The first rises "Up out of the sea." Note, "out of" did not come from the sea. He came from below the surface of the sea.

The second beast, "came up out of the earth." Not from the earth, but from beneath the earth.

I understand that there are powerful fallen demons who have been trapped in hell until they are released when the great tribulation begins, will somehow unite with the soul and spirit of men like
Adolph Hitler, or Nero, put on flesh, have all the powers of the underworld behind them, and claim to be Christ Jesus. The second beast will be his High Priest, having all the powers of Satan in him. A miracle worker like Christ.

The demons are not "trapped in hell." Hell = mankind's grave. Not a place of burning fire. Also, the demons have full access to the goings-on above ground. Theirs is "the authority of the air." The scripture says: "...In which you at one time walked according to the system of things of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit that now operates in the sons of disobedience." (Ephesians 2:2) When the demons were consigned to "Tartarus," they were not in a particular place, but were in spiritual darkness. "Certainly if God did not hold back from punishing the angels that sinned, but, by throwing them into Tartarus, delivered them to pits of dense darkness to be reserved for judgment..." (II Peter 2:4) So, it couldn't be that Tartarus is a particular place, because the demons are operating in "the air," and influencing all of Satan's worldly governments and the merchants and religions. (I John 5:19)

The demons won't be "released" when the Great Tribulation begins. They will be incarcerated, if you will, for a thousand years and THEN let loose one last time.
