Why do we celebrate the birth of Jesus?

Because we are happy he was born.
We are happy about the incarnation - that God became a man and walked with us.

What gift are you going to give Him this year?
I remember him saying that what he wants from us is that we act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God. So probably something like that.
You left out 2 words.
Complete obedience.
Here are another 32 words I left out:
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.

The Holy Spirit, who is equally God along with Jesus, gave these words to all God's people.

For what it is worth, my 32 words are directly quoted from the New Testament. "Complete obedience" is not.

Oh but it is. Words to that effect.

"By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith, among all nations, for his name." (Romans 1:5, KJV)

"Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom you obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered to you." (Romans 6:16,17, KJV)

But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for obedience of faith: To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever." (Romans 16:26,27, KJV) See also Matthew 7:21.

Everything I posted were direct quotations. I said "words to that effect" because there is no word "complete" involved. You said there is nothing that says that complete obedience is necessary. I posted several verses that say that obedience IS necessasry.

That would depend on your meaning. Necessary for what?
