Was Satan Unknown To God
Post #1Job 1:7 " Jehovah asked Satan, where did you come from? Satan answered Jehovah, from wandering around." God didn't know who Satan was or where he came from. Satan gave a clue, " from wandering around". Question: Did Satan come from a realm unknown to God? Did Satan wander from an unknown realm into God's realm?

Satan was a loyal angel who was given the position over the Garden( earth). The bible says he got jealous and wanted worship, thus rebelled and challenged Gods universal sovereignty, in front of all creation( 2 mortals, millions of angels.) in his talking through the serpent in Eden to Eve.
In Job he came from the earth to confront God about Job and all loyal mortals were then involved. So by our actions we give an answer to whose side we support.

Post #12I support satan.he isn't a tyrant and allows us an option. Other than worship the great psychopath in the sky and his rigged game.
Any thinking man would.
If he wasn't so scared of the torture God has planned for men of principle who will not bow

Re: Was Satan Unknown To God
Post #13No where does the Bible say satan was an angel. People misread stuff about the king of Babylon and the king of trye and apply it to satan. Satan is only concretely mentioned 3 times, in the OT Job, 1st Chronicles and Zechariah. Quote a verse from the OT that says satan himself was an angel.kjw47 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 9:17 pmSacredBishop wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 2:08 pm Job 1:7 " Jehovah asked Satan, where did you come from? Post #14Maybe I am, but satan is not called an angel any where. He is mentioned 3 times in the OT. He hated Job, messed with David, 1st Chronicles 21:1, and said Joshua the high priest was filthy, Zechariah 3:1. He is an unknown entity of unknown origin. It seems Job depicts him as a foreign trespasser of some sort.tam wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 7:54 pm Peace to you,
You are reading too much into it (and as has been pointed out, Satan replied that he had been wandering about on the earth). God is just asking 'where have you come from', as in, 'where have you been'. Like asking for a report. It does not mean that Satan was unknown to God, and we can see this from chapter 2, because God asks Satan the very same question that He asked him in chapter 1.SacredBishop wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 2:08 pm Job 1:7 " Jehovah asked Satan, where did you come from? "On another day the angels[a] came to present themselves before [the Lord], and Satan also came with them to present himself before him. 2 And [the Lord] said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Job 2:1

Post #16SacredBishop wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 5:56 pm. That would explain God's shock at his arrival in heaven. "How did you get in here?",Job 1:7.
God does not ask Satan "How did you get in here?"
JOB 1 :7 - Legacy Standard Bible
And Yahweh said to Satan, “From where do you come?” Then Satan answered Yahweh and said, “From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.”

Re: Was Satan Unknown To God
Post #17This is because the term "angel" is usually reserved for FAITHFULL spirits. That Satan is a SPIRIT (a non-human, higher lifeform) is clear as he assembled with the faithful angels in heaven. Humans cannot access heaven, compare 1 Cor 15:50. So Satan is a powerful SPIRIT being that opposes God and his faithful servants; a wicked rebellious angel.
WAS SATAN UNKNOWN TO GOD BEFORE HIS EXCHANGE ABOUT JOB?
No, YHWH has known Satan from his beginning as he (Satan) was judged by God in the Garden if Eden.
REVELATION 12:9
So down the great dragon+ was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan ...

Post #18I think the question was only for that Satan would tell what he was doing. I don't think it means God didn't know.SacredBishop wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 2:08 pm Job 1:7 " Jehovah asked Satan, where did you come from? Satan answered Jehovah, from wandering around." Re: Was Satan Unknown To God
Post #19Peace to you (and to your wife),
He is identified in Revelation:
The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. Rev 12:9 (see also Rev 20:2)
See also 2 Corinth 11:3
But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.
The Adversary (the one called Satan) is the serpent in the Garden of Eden who deceived Eve.
Peace again to you and to your household,
your servant and a slave of Christ,
tammy

Post #20Exactly. From Genesis we know God had previously interacted with Satan.
