A lot has been said in regards to 'marriage' over the years: can it be same sex or only opposite sex; can it be with related people or only unrelated people; can it be of people of different or only the same race or religion; etc.
Outside of each locations' current specific laws, for discussion:
1) Who should be allowed to be legally married?
2) Should there be any age requirements? If so, what should they be?
3) Should 'legally married' be the same as 'married' from a religious connotation?
The question came up after reviewing this article:

Re: Marriage
Post #11They think they're commanded to do so/following their god's law and rule.
Control - people love that.
Making the world to exist as they 'see' it or think it should exist.
Hatred.
Guilt.
Jealously.
The need to appease their god.
Reading a world for the return of their god.
That the people simply are jerks.
Likely there are other reasons.

Re: Marriage
Post #12My only point being, having been around long enough to see how early marriages can turn out, and looking at the stats. (currently those under 20 have a divorce risk of 32%) waiting a few more years to marry can improve one's chance of survival considerably.

Re: Marriage
Post #13This is very wise advice especially considering how devastating divorce can be both financially and emotionally. If children are involved, both intensify significantly.

To be clear: Atheism is not a disbelief in gods or a denial of gods; it is a lack of belief in gods.

I must assume that knowing is better than not knowing, venturing than not venturing; and that magic and illusion, however rich, however alluring, ultimately weaken the human spirit.

It's, to me, interesting that 20-34 didn't change a whole lot, while below 20 & above 34 had a more significant change

Post #15Yeah, a 35% increase. It would be interesting to know why.nobspeople wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 8:54 am [Replying to Miles in post #12]

Post #16I'd suspect boredom and or 'mid-life crisis- played a part in the older group.Miles wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 1:21 pmYeah, a 35% increase. It would be interesting to know why.nobspeople wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 8:54 am [Replying to Miles in post #12]
