Re: Is your Trust in MEN'S Government?
We only have to WANT and SEARCH for them, and we WILL find 'em!
So many choose to IGNORE them, not WANTING them...

Re: Is your Trust in MEN'S Government?
Post #12Men are always weak and corruptible, and power corrupts them more than anything. So we should never base our government on trust for men or their institutions. This is why we have a separation of powers; there will always be weak and corrupt men who will try to use government for their own purposes. People act as though current events are unusual. They may be an extreme case, but they aren't unique; we have always had men who have sought to abuse the power to which they were entrusted.
Courts need to be independent, and government officials always need to be subject to the will of the people who elect them. At the same time, a strong Constitution is a roadblock to the tyranny of the majority, which is also a danger to our freedoms. The Founders were hopeful that the limited representative democracy and a strong Constitution would maintain our freedoms, but it's no guarantee. We came through the test this time, but there's no assurance that we will next time.
And there will be a next time. Educate your children and tell them about their responsibility as free citizens to fight for the freedoms of all. That is the best hope we have.
