How does one effectively approach God as "Father"? Is it necessary to have one's sins "paid for" by accepting Jesus death on the cross as an atonement before God will even speak to us or listen to us?
Or is it simply only necessary to approach God with an attitude of faith, humility, contrition and a willingness to forgive others.
After all, aren't these qualities of mind and heart the true mediators, and in effect, the only mediators that Jesus taught?

To approach God as Father,
Post #1 My theological positions:
-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.
I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

Re: To approach God as Father,
Post #11I asked DI the same question. Is it "bypassing" the Son when a person does as the Son instructed, to directly address YHVH God as "Father"? How so?tam wrote:
If you can understand that there are conditions attached to approaching God as Father (some of which you list in your OP), then I do not see how you can suggest that this prayer means that one can come to the Father, all the while bypassing His Son.
Note, Jesus did not even teach his disciples to pray "in Jesus name" when he taught them how to pray. Only to honor the Father's name.
Yes, John preached a "different" Jesus, and added doctrines that the Synoptic Jesus did not teach. Even the speech patterns are different, not to mention the chronology of event.

Well EJ, I have prayed to God(our heavenly father) as long as I can remember. My father on earth taught me this way. I may have added in Jesus name, a few times but all prayer was and Is to YHVH. Yeshua didn't teach it any other way, so why would I? There apparantly is no approach necessary to our Father. We just have to approach. "draw nigh to Me so that I will draw you Nigh unto Me."

making Jesus into a high priest, through whom all access to God is made, is a method of showering praise on a much loved leader.
Or... on a much loved Son.

One of my favorite verses is here in Rev 21.
As Yahoshua who sits on his fathers throne - he declares =
Rev 21:5 He said, - Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. :6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. : 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and “ I will be his God, and he shall be my son . “
