Jesus was simply teaching people how to live in the presence of the Lord , as living in the kingdom of God. He was Teaching how to live in the kingdom of God.
I had a dream last night that I was above it all , in total peace of mind. But Waking up was like a fall, falling into the reality of my day to day cares.
I'm thinking Jesus was teaching us how to live in that world above our cares when we are awake.
agree or disagree: Jesus was trying to teach people how to live above their worldly cares.
Jesus was teaching people how to live with God.

Why are you making this personal? I'm not claiming that my standards are higher than everyone else's. Just that Chrisitian standards, (and those of other people of faith) are higher than the "worlds" standards, i e popular culture's standards.
What is your issue with me saying that?
Are you assuming that because I differ with some of the theology of Conventional Christians and JWs, that I do not embrace their ethical standards?

My theological positions:
-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.
I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

Post #12No need to get defensive, its not an attack. I just feel this view might be perceived by some (not myself) as "exclusive", excluding millions people without faith. Muslims use the term "infidel" (which literally means without faith) I'm not saying you would use that term, but you did use expression "the world" that's fine it's a biblical expression.Elijah John wrote:Just that Chrisitian standards, (and those of other people of faith) are higher than the "world
Just clarifying there is, in your opinion "us" (those with faith) and "them" (the world) those without faith. I'm not opposed to this very general classification but you can maybe see how some without faith might take exception.
Peace,
JW

I wasn't thinking of standards people may have moral or otherwise,\
I rather meant the peace of mind one has a clear mind and heart free of guilt fear and desire. The pure of heart Jesus spoke of on the mount, when he said the pure of heart will know God.
Over Concern with standards is rather Pharisee-ic , don't you think, Jesus was teaching about ones relationship with God that as Paul said nothing shall come between me and the love of God whatever standard may follow .
Hebrews 10:22
let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled (washed) from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water
(Having been weeded of evil conscience) is not a standard but a charge and grace.

Post #14Jesus was teaching people how to live with each other here on this earth, just as God intended for it to be from the beginning. Of course that all centered around their relationship with God, and that is where we should start in order to live in peace with other humans. But we were never supposed to live anywhere other than this planet, and that remains the destination, if you will, of all humans (other than a small group to rule with Christ).dio9 wrote: Jesus was simply teaching people how to live in the presence of the Lord , as living in the kingdom of God.
