If God's retribution is assured for ALL infidels and non-followers, Why waste money and resources fighting them? If "Thou shalt not kill" and ". . . turn the other cheek" is the mainstay of America's premier religion, why is (Christiun) USA adamant about spending at least 3.6% of its GNP in defending against camel jockeys and that two-bit fire cracker nitwit in North Korea? Isn't God going to protect us?
The new administration is throwing more money into our war machine after the president campaigned that we were no longer going to be the policemen of the world (and his base is predominantly evangelical Christian).
Let's whoop it up for hypocrisy!
GOD'S RETRIBUTION IS ASSURED FOR ALL INFIDELS, ISN'T IT?

Post #11It is good we agree, JW, and I am happy to see there are many occasions when we see eye to eye which gives me some reassurance that I am not possessed by demons.JehovahsWitness wrote:Yes, I agree. Wars motivated by greed and thirst for power that sacrifice young lives to enrich the powerful. Our times are marked by such tragedy; couldn't agree with you mroe!marco wrote:
And yes, of course there are senseless wars of aggression.
The point I made was that sometimes, to preserve good, we must fight for what we believe. You do this in words and JWs are to be admired for having the courage of their convictions. But I think it is wrong to allow some to destroy and kill for the advancement of evil and do nothing at all to prevent it. Having oneself imprisoned aids not hinders the work of an evil aggressor. And I repeat that I am referring to those occasions when war is not of our choosing or making, as was the case last century in WW2.

Post #12Indeed finding common ground is, in my personal opinion a very good thing. Jesus often referred to himself as "the son of man" in the Jehovah's Witness interpretation, we take that (among other things) to him emphasising his humanity, which he had in common with those around him.marco wrote: It is good we agree, JW, and I am happy to see there are many occasions when we see eye to eye which gives me some reassurance that I am not possessed by demons.

* clarification when I refer to the "son of man" it is taken from a text in the bible book of Daniel. This is an expression Jesus often used.
