Hilary Duff felt compelled (pressured?) to apologize for dressing up like a Pilgrim for Halloween....in America!

For debate:
1) What is so offensive about dressing up like America's founders...IN America?
2) Is this hostile-to-tradition mindset perpetuated by Barack Obama, and is it likely to continue with the oh so PC Hillary Clinton?
3) Is this taking PC way too far?
4) Is this the kind of America you want to live in, where one is always afraid of "offending" even for the most innocent words/actions?
And finally,
5) Is the kind of nonsense that may well get the anti-PC Donald Trump elected?
Is THIS Obama/Hillary's America???

Is THIS Obama/Hillary's America???
Post #1 My theological positions:
-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.
I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

Post #11Obama-care premiums and deductables going way up, and increasing taxes on corporations will depress the economy. Corporations will either pass their increased expenses on to the consumer, causing inflation, or move out of the US. Then the country loses jobs.Divine Insight wrote:The Supreme Court Justices are not sufficient reason to vote Trump in. But whatever.Elijah John wrote: I think we all agree on this much though, this is and will be a very important election, especially with the Supreme Court at stake.
On November 9th half of Americans are going to wake up in what they consider to be a country gone to hell, and the other half will be relieved. The only thing I predict is that if Trump wins that "relief" for Trump supporters will be extremely short-lived. They will soon discover that his polices simply aren't going to work at all, and when he tries to claim bankruptcy to hit the "reset button" like he did with his failing businesses he's going to quickly discover that it doesn't work that way when you run a country. And then what happens?
Those things would happen under Hillary's expressed policies, not Trump's. You may want to reconsider your support for what in effect might be a third Obama term.

Post #12Dressing up like a Pilgrim wouldn't have been so bad, if her partner hadn't dressed up as an native American complete with feathers and war paint. Kind of like her dressing up as Dr. Livingston and her partner dressing up as a Zulu.Elijah John wrote: Hilary Duff felt compelled (pressured?) to apologize for dressing up like a Pilgrim for Halloween....in America!

Post #13Why would I want to reconsider? Hillary has already acknowledged that there needs to be improvement to the affordable care act. So she's already on it.Elijah John wrote: Those things would happen under Hillary's expressed policies, not Trump's. And besides, what makes you think Trump's idea would be any better?

That seems to me to be where you are making your mistake. You seem to believe Trump just because he says, "believe me". The fact of the matter is that every policy he has proposed thus far has been rejected by the experts as being unrealistic.
Also, Trump's entire strategy is based on the extremely unrealistic idea that he can just wall-off America from other countries, cut off our economic trade with them, and just deregulate the fossil fuel industries so they can freely polute hoping that this will result in reopening all the coal mines and steel mills in American.
That's a very naive approach to the economy that isn't even remotely realistic. And when that ignorant idea fails where he is going to get the money for all his other proposed projects?
If Trump becomes the president of the USA the most likely result will be the total crash of the U.S. economy. And then we'll be sinking in a full economic collapse separated from the World Economy because Trump will have already told all the other countries to buzz off.
I don't see where Trump has a plan for anything other than the total destruction of the USA, even though that may not be his actual goal. It will be the result of his extreme ignorance of reality.

Symbols are important. The pilgrims are a reminder to native Americans of the beginning of the demonization, subjugation, and eventual slaughter of the original 'Americans'. Why should white America still consider this horrible saga to be something to celebrate?
And why should anyone be in any way surprised that decent people find celebrating genocide to be offensive? It's just a costume? So is wearing a Nazi uniform. Is it 'getting ridiculous' to you that Jews are still so 'sensitive' to celebrating that genocide?
There are certainly examples you could find of 'PC' things that most could agree are silly. This ain't one of them.
I for one am sick and tired of the progressive tendency to see 'PC' as a pejorative. Consideration and decency, as well as respecting and understanding simple history, should not be something to laugh or complain about.
Perhaps the OP is the one who could benefit from rethinking things.
