Could I ask a favor?
Post #1Hi. I want to ask that only people who truly want to learn more about what the Bible says about living forever in Paradise on Earth to post on this thread. Please. I don't want to argue. I would very much appreciate it if people who think everybody is either going to heaven or to Hell would not start a battle of words here. I hope to hear from people who think that PSALM 37:9-11, and also verse 29, sounds pretty good. Thank you. OWH

You can read about it in Revelation Ch. 21. You will also read that God and the Lamb are in the city and that they will dwell in the city. You will also read that there is no need for the sun there for God's glory will illuminate it. So your deduction that the streets will get too hot is obviously wrong.Perhaps, still Gold is also a heat conductor so on a hot day it will be very uncomforable to walk on.... ok in shoes I suppose but not so good for any little ones running around in bare feel ...

But if God wanted to make gold hard as granite he probably could, right?
Perhaps others still in use of their brain would not presume to question God's decision to pave his streets with pure gold and make them perfectly suitable for his purposes.Right. But for those of us still in use of the brain God gave us, we ask the question "Why should he?" Especially as he has already created much stronger and more practical metals humans can use in construction.

No one is born with that knowledge even with an abundance of common sense. It's not so much scientifically, just with applying a minimum of common sense, I try and do that as often as possible.
Would you mind correcting the grammar in that sentence? As is it is hard to understand. Thankyou.Granted we can figured in miraculous intervention is doing so is incompatible with logic and common sense?

It all comes from the 21st chapter of Revelation. But you are right, it is nonsense. All of it. Along with ALL other interpretations of the Bible including that of Jehovah's Witnesses.Granted perhaps you have indeed done the book an injustice, but if you synopsis contains an accurate outline of some of its conclusion (for example, that God will literally take up permanant reside on the miniscule speck that constitutes our planet earth, that streets will literally be paved with soft metals that conduct heat and electricity, presumably to better shock or burn the children) then it sounds like complete nonsense to me.

Perhaps we have been talking at cross purposes. I am aware the source text being discussed come from the book of Revelation but I was under the impression the interpretation of said text came from the book entitled "Heaven" by one Randy Alcorn (see post #72). It is that book that I said sounded silly, not the bible texts themselves.
Anyway, I appreciate yourown attempt at biblical hermeneutics in post 81 . Like many I have come across, your conclusions seem to be largely based on a literal interpretation text. I dont find your literal interpretation any more convincing than Mr Alcorn's.

Most of my questions have been ignored. I don't get why you are 'thanking' me.Thank you for your input.

Meantime this little gem of a cartoon is a good representation of my argument regarding the belief the OP argues for.

If you care to go back through my arguments and answer the questions I put to you, you should come to a realization that I am not arguing anything of the sort. Well perhaps not you, but the observant reader will.Do you really find good health repulsive? And your body a curse?

[strike]I didn't realize the OP equated eternal paradise to being eternally stuck in the vacuum of space...[/strike]
Edit: Actually, the OP obviously doesn't. But then the question is: why do you?

I'm sure he has his reasons but it might be an idea to start a new thread to discuss them as there are I believe rules here about derailing threads. Returning to the OP, it refers to PSALM 37:9-11 which reads in part as follows in the KJV

Jehovah's Witnesses believe the earth in question is our present planet earth.
PSALM 37:9
For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.
