What is your theological preference? Theological complexity as put forward by institutions such as the Roman Catholic Church and it's offshoots? Trinitarianism, elaborate rituals etc? Mediated access to a "Triune" God?
Or the theological simplicity of absolute Monotheism and direct access to the one Living God?
Which do you think Jesus taught?
What is your preference?

What is your preference?
Post #1 My theological positions:
-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.
I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

Re: What is your preference?
Post #2My tendency is to minimal religious involvement with maximum theological analysis with logical deductions forming a theology from the revelations of the Bible instead of from prior theological decisions based upon 100% direct access to and involvement with the one true Living GOD.Elijah John wrote: What is your theological preference? This has led me to my involvement with and allegiance to Pre-Conception Existence theology as a Trinitarian.
PCE Theology as I see it...
We had an existence with a free will in Sheol before the creation of the physical universe. Here we chose to be able to become holy or to be eternally evil in YHWH's sight. Then the physical universe was created and all sinners were sent to earth.
This theology debunks the need to base Christianity upon the blasphemy of creating us in Adam's sin.

Ted, do you think Jesus taught the complexity of Trinitarianism and the complexity of mediated access to God? If so, where so? Didn't he teach direct access to the Father? In the Lord's prayer, the Parables and elsewhere?

Mediated access to GOD? Npe.

Simplicity of direct access is the path for me. Jesus encouraged the same, as you said through the manner of prayer. (not vain repetitions ) Christ deferred all to the Father. Why should we do otherwise?

Post #6Did Jesus set himself up as Mediator? Or did he teach direct access to Father YHVH? Direct as in unmediated by Temple, Priest, or even umediated by Jesus himself? While I enjoy simplicity, I don’t think that reality is simple. Jesus did not teach that truth is simple. His parables suggest a more complex view of life.
The doctrine of the trinity is a later understanding. “Absolute monotheism in the way it is used in the opening post is an even later understanding developed in response to the belief in the trinity.
Jesus taught that there is one God, that he is God, and that he is not the Father. All the other stuff are ways that people have tried to understand what that meant in a systematic fashion.

If you believe that the message of the parables of the goat and sheep is “follow me or burn then I can only conclude that you have never read the parable itself.
