Jehovah's Witnesses are not allowed to:
-vote
-celebrate birthdays
-celebrate Christmas or Easter
-donate or receive blood transfusions.
And if any JW openly persists in doing these things[edit to add publicly], they will be shunned or disfellowshipped, [edit to add or otherwise admonished or disciplined.]
For debate,
1) what do any of these check-list prohibitions have to do with Christianity?
2) And are any of these prohibitions compatible with the idea of Christian freedom?
3) Are these prohibitions arbitrary or legalistic?
4) And could Jehvoah's Witness as an organization flourish without these particular prohibitions and still honor God?
Please address any or all of the above.
JW organization.

My theological positions:
-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.
I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

Post #451I'll take each of your statements exactly as they are stated. If you intend to simply make statements of faith, you need to indicate that for each statement you make.JehovahsWitness wrote:
Okay well if I did it was a statement of faith. Please take all my statements on this forum to be statements of FAITH simply what I believe to be true.
Additionally, as a fellow poster recently stated:
"If I want to hear a testimony I'll go to church not to a debate forum..."

Post #454You are free to write exactly as you please and if that includes making a factual claim rather than a statement of faith, I'll take it as a factual claim on your part.JehovahsWitness wrote:I wlll write exactly as I see fit and if you don't like that you have but to not read them. You failed to note that I was quoting another poster and applying his statement to your post. The poster I quoted is the one who'll be going to church if he decides he wants to hear a testimony.

Post #455Excellent, good. Well it's always wonderful to find common ground. I feel the same way.Tcg wrote: You are free to write exactly as you please ...
Well I'll wish that poster well too. Maybe he or she will drop in here to debate in DC&R when their service is done. As long as they conform to forum guidelines I do believe all are welcome.Tcg wrote: The poster I quoted is the one who'll be going to church if he decides he wants to hear a testimony.
Well, have a good day,

Given that I stated the fact that they are a fellow poster, it is quite clear that they debate here.

Post #458As I am sure you will agree, all posters who participate are of equal value and deserve the full respect of all other posters no matter what their views are. So yes, this poster is equal to all other posters here. No better and no worse.
As are they all.
Well, this has indeed been a most productive exchange,

Re: In the final analysis, what is Faith
Post #460Bad choice unless you chose a straw man on purpose...polonius.advice wrote:"Faith is believing what you know ain't so." Mark Twain.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Faith is essentially HOPE. No one hopes for what he knows is true nor what he knows is not truth.
Twain, as much as I enjoy his acerbic with, is as deluded as every other skeptic.
Your conclusion is based upon a false definition so is false.
PCE Theology as I see it...
We had an existence with a free will in Sheol before the creation of the physical universe. Here we chose to be able to become holy or to be eternally evil in YHWH's sight. Then the physical universe was created and all sinners were sent to earth.
This theology debunks the need to base Christianity upon the blasphemy of creating us in Adam's sin.
