Post by flitzerbiest »

Topic for debate: proselytization

Opening statement: I believe that proselytization amounts to cultural genocide, and is inherently immoral.

Please explain the rationale for proselytizing if not the belief that one's own faith/spirituality is superior to that of the targeted individual.
Does the same thing happen when you go to school?

Doesnt the same thing happen anytime you enter into a debate? Right now, are you not taking the position that proselytization is cultural genocide and you believe that you position on this is superior to everyone elses?

Whats the difference between changing someones mind and "cultural genocide"?

If it is their intention to make a JW or a Mormon out of me, then it is also their goal to replace my culture with their own.
If someone freely decides to change aspects of their culture, what business is it of yours? The South African apartheid culture thankfully changed, were we wrong to push that cause? Are we wrong to promote basic human rights in the Muslim world such as Afghanistan?
