Post #1John was in Spirit on the Lord's day; no where does it say John was being literal in any sense of the word but millions of christians literalize this most spiritual book in the entire Bible. Why?

I would add my vote to Spiritually and symbolically if I knew how but I don't see any place to add the vote.

1 Corinthians 2:14 (New King James Version)
14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1 Corinthians 2:14 (New International)
14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:14 (WE)
14The person who does not have the Spirit does not receive the blessings of the Spirit of God. He thinks they are foolish. He cannot understand them because only people who have the Spirit of God can test them.
1 Corinthians 2:14 (NIRV)
14 Some people don't have the Holy Spirit. They don't accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. Things like that are foolish to them. They can't understand them. In fact, such things can't be understood without the Spirit's help.

I understand what you are saying but I will disagree with you when you say some people don't have the Holy Spirit.Benoni wrote: Of course they are; the Holy Spirit would not have it any different; this verse also includes the religious man who is very soulish.
Some people don't have the Holy Spirit. They don't accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. Things like that are foolish to them. They can't understand them. In fact, such things can't be understood without the Spirit's help.
I tend to believe that all people who are alive have the Spirit of LIFE in them. Is that Spirit of Life not also the Holy Spirit which gives LIFE to the world?
Anyone who has LIFE in them has the ability to understand what they really want to understand. The only reason they would not understand the things of God is because they do not want to understand them and are not interested in knowing or learning about them. They prefer to play their games , religious or otherwise and pretend to be something or someone they are not.
Anyone with God given intelligence can understand what God understands. God created mankind to understand Him in the first place and never took that ability away from mankind.
Even Jesus said to the Pharisees who were condemning Him and questioning Him "The kingdom of God is within you." ( Luk 17:21)
The bible also tells us that God is in ALL. Is God not also the Holy Spirit?
If God is in ALL and the Holy Spirit is also God or part of God then the Holy Spirit is also in ALL living people, is He not? If He was not, they would have no conscience at all and no awareness of anything at all but be dead and know nothing at all. All people have a conscience no matter how much they try to ignore their own conscience.
Eph 4:6 One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and through all, and in you all.
The people who go around saying "I have the Holy Spirit and you do not" are religious hypocrites and have no clue what they are talking about.
How many professing Holy Spirit filled people do you know who never sin ?
The bible says that which is born of God cannot sin. If they can sin and do sin they are not filled with the Holy Spirit according to the bible and that would include 100% of Christians, would it not. They lie when they say they are filled with the Spirit or born of God and then keep sinning anyway.
1Jo 3:8-10 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
