Is Lucifer the same as Satan?

Should Lucifer the light-bearer be equated with Satan the Adversary, or is this parallel an orthodox Christian theological and mythological fallacy?

Dear friend, thanks for your reply and your suggestion ...

In all of this I fell more as John the Baptist .... who, while baptising (= initiating people into knowledge) was well aware that AFTER HIM COMES ONE WHO IS MIGHTIER THAN HE IS... consequently, I simply 'inform' the people about the Truth ... and than Truth Itself would deal with them in accordance with their respective quality!!

Knowing the Truth about this question would also be the answer to it and to all simillar one's ... that was my attitude when I brought that beautiful explanation of our Lord!

Lucifer is a Latin word meaning "son of the morning", or "morning star". There are only two times this is used in the Bible, once in Isaiah, and once in Revelation. The Isaiah passage refers to the king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, if I'm not mistaken. The second refers to Jesus. So, no, Lucifer would not be a term used of Satan.

Yes, I believe Lucifer to be the first light as a whole. Then seperated into two. The devil the male side and satan the female side of the body.
