Why do some people believe mormons are not christian?
Post #1So, you can probably tell I'm Mormon and I'm willing to debate my religion or answer questions. The purpose of this thread though is that I have had many people tell me I'm not Christian even though I believe in Jesus. I'm wondering why that is. Thanks for any answers!

God created Mormons so Christians would know how Jews feel about Christianity.
Christians have no room to say Mormonism is false. Christianity does not portray the God of Israel in accordance with the Hebrew Scriptures.

Post #173The LDS church is founded upon one man's alleged experiences ...
Christians' is founded upon Christ.
LDS think God started out as a man and then progressed in to becoming a god ...
LDS also think man can becomes gods -
LDS live, breathe and think whatever the current President says ... and it has changed so many times.
God never changes -

Post #174I checked on Chatgpt and it seems that the idea that "LDS think God started out as a man and then progressed in to becoming a god " is not an official church teaching; it can be considered the "opinion" of one of the early church leaders that while not officially rejected or denounced is not incorporated into their official theology. NOTE The statement does not refer to God being human and then progressing to becoming Almighty God the Father but rather a reference to God's orginal state as an immortal being before the creation of the universe.Julie Brantley wrote: ↑Sat Dec 13, 2025 10:35 pm LDS think God started out as a man and then progressed in to becoming a god ...
I don't see anything problematic with this idea since Jesus admitted humans are refered to in scripture as gods.
I cannot comment on this as I don't know any LDSs personally; that said, even the Apostles changed their minds on certain central topics as their understanding increased.Julie Brantley wrote: ↑Sat Dec 13, 2025 10:35 pm LDS live, breathe and think whatever the current President says ... and it has changed so many times ...
