This thread is a continuation of an off topic conversation from here.
First, I think that we all agree that it's important to promote understanding, respect, and equality for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation. Everyone should be treated with dignity and allowed to express their identity without fear of discrimination or harm.
Question for debate is LGTBQIA2S+ a harmless social contagion, or are there serious unintended consequences awaiting the individuals and societies that are going down this road?

Post #351No Marke... It seems as if that particular kind of Christianity mixes up politics with religion in some kind of mishmash whereby it can snatch out certain OT laws which fit with its bigotries whilst discarding all others.marke wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:41 pmA Christian does not obey laws written in the OT except to use the laws to understand how to obey God's will in the Spirit, not the letter.

2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
If you were an outsider reading your reply, would you be inclined to recognize humility in the reply, or does it reek of a lack of humility for a human to make claims on behalf of a god concept?
I'm humbly asking.
You can give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day, or you can teach a man to pray for fish and he will starve to death.
I blame man for codifying those rules into a book which allowed superstitious people to perpetuate a barbaric practice. Rules that must be followed or face an invisible beings wrath. - KenRU
It is sad that in an age of freedom some people are enslaved by the nomads of old. - Marco
If you are unable to demonstrate that what you believe is true and you absolve yourself of the burden of proof, then what is the purpose of your arguments? - brunumb

Re: What's wrong with being gay?
Post #355Ahhhh! So your version of the Lord gives you wisdom to cherry pick laws out of the 613?
I've heard it all now.
And this descent causes your particular congregation to discard the inclusion of people?
When you trash diversity of humanity you travel so far away from Jesus as to be some other religion entirely.
Question: Would you like to see a notice outside your church which bans a variety of cultures, races, nationalities, sexualities from entering? If so then Jesus would certainly not go in, you know.

Psalm 51:17
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Psalm 5:6
Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
Psalm 10:3
For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth.

Post #357Do you see how, in the absence of anything that's Christian excluding people, you needed to resort to the writings of the Old Testament which you cherry pick from?marke wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 2:23 am

So it looks as if you would like to see a sign outside your church which forbids entry to some.
That's not very Christian.

I was just questioning your claim as far as where wisdom comes from and asked if it is humble to speak on behalf of a god concepts.

Re: What's wrong with being gay?
Post #359In the O.T. the old covenant law was for the Jews. Now concerning the new covenant Jesus brought with him, he fulfilled all 613 rules in the law, and for all who believe by faith in this finished work we are under his wing of protection, protected from the judgment of the law. Now concerning those who do not have faith in Christ, they will remain under the 613 laws, both Jews and Gentiles, and those who reject Christ's finished work will be judged by the law. It's sort of like jumping out of a safe position into the sight of 613 marksmen, not all of them are going to miss. "BANG, you're dead."oldbadger wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 12:53 amNo Marke... Wherever did you dig that up?
But Christianity demands that so many of those old laws are kept! Lots and lots of them.
Certainly you didn't get that idea from Jesus.
