Yes, the Father is higher in rank, role and position but they are the same in the state of being God. (John 1:1)
I've asked this question to I believe JW, in John 17:3, how a Christian experience eternal life?
I hope I'll receive an answer.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:1

I don't think that means Jesus is the one and only true God.

Maybe they experience it by being with the one and only true God, by knowing Him?

This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ.
