This thread is a continuation of an off topic conversation from here.
First, I think that we all agree that it's important to promote understanding, respect, and equality for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation. Everyone should be treated with dignity and allowed to express their identity without fear of discrimination or harm.
Question for debate is LGTBQIA2S+ a harmless social contagion, or are there serious unintended consequences awaiting the individuals and societies that are going down this road?

Re: What's wrong with being gay?
Post #51The issue I have with "gay" is sexual contact of the same sex. To really, really, like guys and enjoy being around guys and dressing guys, cutting their hair, go hunting, fishing, go for a drive, boating, boy's movie night, just dinner and a guy to guy talk, etc., is fine. The issue is always the inappropriate application of body parts coupled with sexual activity outside of marriage that is wrong and an evil influence on social interaction in general. Best friends/blood brothers, that forever buddy is very okay. Hug a guy today --- he likely needs it, but not a sex toy!

Post #52Daedalus X wrote:Even if you hold gay marriage near and dear for yourself, it does not make it a human right.
I hold my straight marriage as near and dear and would find it evil to restrict marriage to other humans. For example, not allowing homosexuals to marry like I can. I also would find it evil to restrict Chinese to marry for example. I enjoy being able to be a responsible driver and I would find it to be an evil to restrict women, or Mexicans for example from being able to drive. Let me know where you are confused and just how this became a human rights issue in your head.
I think that it is an illness and/or perversion, and the people pushing it are in Lennon's words "useful idiots".
At least you don't call it a choice. Either way, your reasoning would be silly even if it was accurate.
The flu is an illness and surely you understand that not allowing people with the flu to get married would be silly. Why would an illness prevent consenting adults from marrying?
Let's get down to it though shall we? If homosexuality is an illness or a perversion, why is there so much of it in the animal kingdom? It's silly to think that the animals are ill or choosing a perversion.
If a billionaire were to fall in love with you and ask to marry you, you might be tempted by a life on the French Rivera with all the great toys a person could ever want, the best sports cars, airplanes, yachts and anything that money can buy. At first you may have to do things you find repulsive, but over time you could condition yourself to enjoy it.
You just don't get it do you? I'm not attracted to men. I can only guess as to why that is hard for you to understand.
Could you walk in to a gay bar and get aroused by a man dancing on the stage? Such a thing is not a choice I could make.
You can give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day, or you can teach a man to pray for fish and he will starve to death.

Post #53Why on earth should any human on this planet care as to what your issue is with homosexuals? You're on a debate site, not debating the topic, but instead telling us about your issues.LittleNipper wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 10:26 am The issue I have with "gay" is sexual contact of the same sex. I would have addressed any argument you made, but unfortunately, you didn't make any arguments nor did you ask any questions to advance the debate.
Hope you feel better getting this off your chest though.

Post #54OK, that's your personal feeling and opinion out of the way. Now try justifying why any of what you described is wrong and an evil influence.LittleNipper wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 10:26 am The issue is always the inappropriate application of body parts coupled with sexual activity outside of marriage that is wrong and an evil influence on social interaction in general.

There are so many bigots trying to discriminate against, interfere with and disrupt other peoples' lives because of their sexualities.
Social contagion? Each one of the above letters is about entirely separate sexualities and people.Question for debate is LGTBQIA2S+ a harmless social contagion,
Why do you think that asexual men/women are a contagion, for example? I've known several in my life and they were mostly fine people.
Going down this road? Which of the above are you thinking of following?or are there serious unintended consequences awaiting the individuals and societies that are going down this road?

Re: What's wrong with being gay?
Post #57If it is not a human rights issue, then we can denny LGBTQ the right to marry. Just like we would denny a father (who just lost his wife to cancer) the right to marry his 16 year old daughter. Or would you say "love is love" and if the daughter is willing then you would be fine with it?
A lot of people were denied the right to marry due to Covid and I am sure that most officials would not marry people who have the flu as well. We do not choose to be mentally ill or perverted, but there are choices the we can make to bring us into such states. I would say if we choose to take drugs like LSD we increase our chances of developing schizophrenia. And similarly our choices will predispose us to many other conditions.Clownboat wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 4:09 pm At least you don't call it a choice. I think it would be silly to justify human behavior based on animals. Shall we pee on every fire hydrant that we pass, roll around in poop, sniff each others butts when we meet a stranger or hump someones leg for fun, shall men fight each other to get a female for mating. How would you like it if we gave each other a Bonobo handshake every time we meet.
I used to gag from spoiled milk before anyone in my family even knew the milk was bad. But, when I got married my wife ate very healthy foods that I could not stand, the worst was kefir, she would make it at home by leaving milk sitting on the kitchen counter for two days and it was nasty. But she would add a little bit to my yogurt everyday along with a bit of honey, and she would gradually increase the amount of kefir in the yogurt. By the time I realized that she was doing it, I had become accustomed to it and did not mind it. I no longer eat any of the junk food that I was so attracted to and eat only healthy foods including a cup of kefir. It is just amazing how many things we can learn to like if we just want to do it.

Post #58People are free to discriminate and interfere as much as they want, but if they violate the law they risk being punished. The battle is won and lost in the courts of the government and courts of public opinion.
LGBTQ... is mostly fine people, but they want to change society in a very radical way. Whether it is good or bad will be ultimately decided by Darwin, and I don't want to be on the wrong side of that decision.
