The Devil's Trick?

Post by POI »

1. If the Devil's objective is to deceive/coerce/trick/persuade humans away from God, and furthermore, has above human abilities; HOW do we know Jesus was not actually Satan in disguise?.?.?.?

2. Does God somewhat remove his freewill, so he cannot ultimately deceive millions into worshiping a false god? (i.e.) What we know as Christianity today.

3. If God does restrict what the devil can do, then why still allow what the devil can do to humans?

Maybe professed Christians have a one way ticket to hell, which makes the devil's job easier. 2/5's of the world's population worship a false god, which breaks the first commandment. The devil's work is already done for him. And almost another 2/6's are also done, in the way of believing in Muhammad. And so on....
In case anyone is wondering... The avatar quote states the following:

"I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness."

Then how do you know Jesus was not the devil? Maybe the Orthodox Jews are right? Maybe the real Messiah has not yet come? What makes you so sure you have invested your faith into the correct claimant?
2ndpillar2 wrote: Thu Aug 19, 2021 9:40 amNow with regard to the children of God, they have their own power, and can rebuke the devil. With regard to the "Christian" pope, apparently he is not a child of God, for when he tried to cast out demons, he failed. The "many" (Matthew 7:13), which includes "Christians", lie within the power of the devil, and like Paul, all have types of thorns in the side, and are basically without power or Spirit. They all rely on the traditions of men, which are derived from the fallen angels, the gods of old. This would apply to Muslims as well, as the supposed Mohammad made his Satanic verses, as documented by his supposed wife. As for many of the Quranic verses, they were mostly taken from earlier Jewish, Christian, and Zoroastric tradition sources. Now as far as witches, they apparently worship Satan/devil himself, the chief fallen angel. Their lives reflect their beliefs and practices. A good example would be howling at the moon. Yeah, like that makes them look sane.

How are you able to distinguish works from the 'power of the Spirit', verses any other?
Millions, if not billions, claim to communicate with the real deal. Surely all of them cannot be correct. And yet, it would stand to reason that many, even like yourself, feel quite genuine. But it is certainly possible that all of them, including you, are incorrect.
Billions claim to follow "Christ on earth", the position claimed by the pope. The pope or the appointed Protestant ministers of Paul, are simply agents of the the 7th head of the beast (dictatorial government) of Revelation 17, and are here to "deceive" those "who dwell on the earth" (Revelation 13:14). If you have the mark of the beast, then things aren't going well for you now, nor will they go well for you in the future. If you are at peace, you don't have to worry about what I say or what anyone else has to say. If you need a "My Pillow", or a pill to sleep, or caffeine and or pills to stay awake, then maybe you have a problem. Doctor appointments are another bad indicator. Hell on earth is indicative of bad choices. If your life is hell, then maybe you have made bad choices, and are on a wrong path. (Matthew 7:13)

Isn't it possible to be completely at peace about what you believe, and still be wrong? If two people are completely at peace, and also feel life is going quite well for them, BUT they both have an opposing believe; logic would dictate at least ONE of them are mistaken. I would imagine some others, who have any opposing belief to you, can have the same amount of peace and conviction as you. And yet, at least one of you are completely mistaken; if not both.

How do you still know your Christian belief is validated, while their peaceful and assured opposing belief is incorrect?

It's entirely possible to be at peace with a 'wrong' belief. Why? Because it's a belief, no matter how few or how many share it.
But the 'fun' (sad?) thing about a belief is that it only needs one to accept it for it to exist. It takes arrogance to think 'My belief is right and everyone else's is wrong'. But, like hypocrisy, christianity isn't short on breeding arrogance.
Have a great, potentially godless, day!

The comparison doesn't work between a fictional character, who in your terms probably doesn't exist. Their sense of "peace" may be one of satisfaction, after cutting off the head of some apostate, or idolater or in some cases, simply burn them at the stake. The best you can do is compare yourself. Are you under a doctor's care? If so, your sense of peace may be delusional. You have to have absolute parameters. As for the coming of the "son of man" per Matthew 24:29, that is in the future. As for the future of the tares, the goats, or the "evil slave", their bad times are a coming (Matthew 24:48-51 & 13:41-42).

I doubt you could say hardly any of this about a devout monk. They can be perfectly at peace, not require material items, not rely upon medications, etc... How do you know THEY are mistaken, and you are right?

If your argument continues to be, (paraphrased) 'because the Bible says so", then this conversation could not be more circular in it's logic.

Whose to say any "monk" is at peace. Most people become monks because it is a step up in the forlorn life they lead. Whose to say they are at peace. In Myanmar the monks seem to have traded robes for rifles. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=My ... &FORM=VIRE Westerners often join monasteries because they are not capable of handling the stress of everyday life or have other emotional problems. Their problems don't leave, they are just masked in a monastery. As for material items, the majority of worldwide monks have a livelihood which is mostly focused around begging to provide for their required material items. The few western monasteries, or nunneries, will have their own medical care, or in case of nuns, often run their own hospitals. My sister who made a Catholic nunnery vow, has suffered cancer, diabetes, and high blood pressure, and has medications for all.

Whose to say any Christian is at peace? But even if we verify that one verified Christian and one verified monk is completely at peace, they both ascribe to opposing doctrines. We have three options to explore - (as they cannot both be right, right?):

1. The Christian is right
2. The monk is right
3. They are both not right

Applying Occam's Razor, which option is most likely?

Applying Occam's Razor, which option is most likely?
In general, "Christians" follow the false prophet Paul, and are wrong and therefore not at peace. "Christian" monks would fall in the same category. Buddhist, Hindu, as well as Tao monks are generally in the realm of seeking a better position than their very poor rural life, or in some cases, getting away from the responsibility of having a wife and kids, and their time is mostly spent in begging for money, which helps no one, except to make someone feel good for feeding the self perpetuating poor. Whether they are at peace at the moment, may depend on how well their begging went. Now if you want to be "perfect" then sell all you have, give to the poor, and follow me, which is to say, heal the sick, raise the dead, and preach the kingdom. (Matthew 19:21) Now that we are at the "end of the age", one should probably focus on throwing the mountain into the sea. The only dead rising will be the saints (Revelation 20:4). The tares, the followers of the false prophets (Matthew 7:15-23), are under the cloud of being "gathered" "first", and thrown into the furnace of fire (Matthew 13:30). At that point, they will not find any "peace", but only weep and grind their teeth. (Matthew 13:42).
