Is this true?
My grandfather is a retired minister (and an abusive father and husband I should point out). He taught his church that the concept of 'once saved always saved' is true. Many in the city I grew up in attended that church - and many still do even though he's no longer preaching.
Is the concept of 'once saved always saved' true? It is, as I understand it (I didn't attend his church) is once Jesus saves you from your sin, nothing you can do past blasphemy can prohibit you from getting in to heaven. It seems it was a 'once forgiven all future sin will be forgiven'.
I wonder if it's worth mentioning that many members of this church appear to be anything but Christian; from abusers, to adulterers to thieves - with the exception of murderers, most all of them continue to run the course of continued sinners (and not the "we've all sinned" type but the 'I sinned yesterday and will sin tomorrow" type.)

If once saved always saved is true why did Satan get kicked out of heaven?
Revelations 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints, here are they that keep the commandments of Yahweh and the faith of Jesus - Revelation 14:12
Jesus told some I never knew you this people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoreth me with their lips but their heart is far from me . But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines commandments of men. Matthew 16:8-9
Many false prophets will deceive many Matthew 24:11

Angels, YIMW -- which Satan is; he is a fallen angel; -- are not in need of salvation as men are.Yehwahismywitness wrote: If once saved always saved is true why did Satan get kicked out of heaven?

Interesting, Is the Adversary saved anyway? Or if not, Could not he also repent, as it appears he has an assigned job to tempt and lead us astray?PinSeeker wrote:Angels, YIMW -- which Satan is; he is a fallen angel; -- are not in need of salvation as men are.Yehwahismywitness wrote: If once saved always saved is true why did Satan get kicked out of heaven?

No. Nowhere in Scripture is there any support for that.brianbbs67 wrote: Interesting, Is the Adversary saved anyway?
No. Nowhere in Scripture is that suggested as a possibility And actually, Peter talks about the Gospel as something angels "long to look into" (1 Peter 1:12). The best we can do is to say angels are created spiritual beings -- and always will be -- not having the possibility of salvation being granted to them.brianbbs67 wrote: Or if not, Could not he also repent, as it appears he has an assigned job to tempt and lead us astray?
The only thing we can say for sure is that Satan can only do what God in His supreme authority allows -- NOT "AUTHORIZES" -- Satan to do, which we see clearly before Satan inflicts damage upon the life of Job:
- "The LORD said to Satan, “From where have you come? Satan answered the LORD and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it. And the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil? Then Satan answered the LORD and said, “Does Job fear God for no reason? Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face. And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand. So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD." [Job 1:7-12; emphasis added]
- "Then Job answered the LORD and said: 'I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted... I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know... I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you; therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes." [Job 42:1-6]
Grace and peace to you, Brian.

Satan being booted out of heaven was a sin problem not salvation issue, Yahweh hates sin Proverbs 6:16-19 Abominations unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness, that speakest lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
So it tells us angels can sin but if they do will be booted out of heaven to fire.

How do you read that verse?Yehwahismywitness wrote: Fire is what is promised to Satan and his angels Revelation19:20
Do you take it literally, or otherwise?
Either way, what is it saying, as you see it?

Fire is often used in the bible as a symbol of complete annilation. Satan and the demons will eventually be totally destroyed, they are doomed to everlasting non-existence as symbolised by the lake of fire.

Hallelujah!
