These texts and others do form the basis for what is called Apostolic Succession. This is the idea that the priesthood of the Christian Church is held to be derived from the apostles by some form of continuous succession. Churches that claim some form of apostolic succession, dating back to the apostles include the Roman Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox Churches, the Church of the East, the Anglican Communion, the Liberal Catholic Church and some Lutheran Churches.
A new priesthood.

You are forgetting the LDS. Joseph Smith claimed that God told him in a vision that the keys had been removed from all Christianity due to apostasy and he was to start anew and restore what had been lost.

Post #4That claim is an error in and of itself because it would make Jesus a liar. There was no so-called apostasy and there will never be one --- we have Christ's promise on this: " And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. " (Mt 16:18)postroad wrote: [Replying to post 2 by McCulloch]

We here note that Christ, by building his house, that is, his church, upon a rock, has thereby secured it against all storms and floods, like the wise builder, in Matt. 7: 24, 25.
The gates of hell: That is, the powers of darkness, and whatever Satan can do, either by himself, or his agents. For as the church is here likened to a house, or fortress, built on a rock; so the adverse powers are likened to a contrary house or fortress, the gates of which, that is, the whole strength, and all the efforts it can make, will never be able to prevail over the city or church of Christ. By this promise we are fully assured, that neither idolatry, heresy, nor any pernicious error whatsoever shall at any time prevail over the church of Christ.

Yes indeed. But no more absurd than the Christian claim that the Jews forfeited the new covenant.
Which of course makes God a liar.

Post #6Or just a tighter definition of 'HIS people'? Revelation 3:9 I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars--I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you.postroad wrote: [Replying to post 4 by jedicri]

PCE Theology as I see it...
We had an existence with a free will in Sheol before the creation of the physical universe. Here we chose to be able to become holy or to be eternally evil in YHWH's sight. Then the physical universe was created and all sinners were sent to earth.
This theology debunks the need to base Christianity upon the blasphemy of creating us in Adam's sin.
