Thirteen Stars

If you have a one-dollar bill handy, take it out and look at the configuration of the 13 stars. The 13-star cluster directly over the head of the American eagle is arranged in the shape of the Star of David. Radiating from the Star of David is the brilliant light of the Shekinah Glory that dwelt above the Mercy seat in Solomon’s Temple.

In this way, the dollar bill bears testimony to the accuracy of God’s words to Abraham, Genesis 12:3, “In thee (Abraham) shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.”

How and why did this come about? In 1776, a Jew named Haym Solomon helped turn the tide of the Revolutionary War. The Jewish patriot loaned, interest-free, his entire fortune of 600,000 pounds in British sterling, 775,000 American money, to the fledgling United States government for the war effort.

He then traveled to Europe, where he consulted with the Sassoon and Rothchild families, who helped raise the equivalent of $3,500,000 pounds of British sterling, equivalent to 4,500,000 dollars in American money.
And so, after the war, George Washington expressed his gratitude by ordering the engravers of American currency to design a permanent tribute to Haym Salomon and to the others.

Sidenote: Mr. Salomon died penniless at age 45 without ever being repaid for his loan to the government. The question of compensation for his descendants has come before Congress on several occasions, but so far without any results.
