SABBATH...

Post by Capbook »

Is the Lord's Sabbath in the OT still for God's people in the NT?

Luk 23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment

Are you in the OT or the NT?
For both, the continuance of Sabbath keeping for the people of God.
There is none other commandment greater than this:
To love the Lord thy God
with all your heart
with all your mind
with all your soul
and with all your strength.
Well, that is not new. (Deut 6:5)
If we love God, we have to do His commandments. (John 14:15)
By God's grace we are saved through our faith. (Eph 2:8)
Not of works. (Eph 2:9)
Doing good works (loving Him by doing His commandments) is the result that we are already saved, not to be saved. (Eph 2:10)

Deu 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
None of this will work for you
if you do not or cannot obey the first commandment.
There is no salvation in disobedience.
Is not keeping the Sabbath for the people of God obedience to you? (Heb 4:9)
To begin with everyone on earth belongs to God.
Therefore everyone is His people.

And why does it matter to you if anyone does not keep the Sabbath?

And if the Holy Ghost commanded me to keep the Sabbath then
of course doing it would be obedience.
As the word of God says, there remains a Sabbath keeping for the people of God, you still wait for the Holy Ghost? (Heb 4:9)

Heb 4:9 There remains, therefore, a Sabbath rest for the people of God,

Time will come that all flesh shall come to worship God on the Lord's day.

Isa 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
Isa 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD
Jesus is the Lord also of the Sabbath, as Sabbath as "Lord's day".

Mrk 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
Mrk 2:28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
That's right, and Jesus abolished the Sabbath when he died on the 'cross.' The Mosaic Law was made obsolete. (Hebrews 8:13)
Context talked about the Levitical Priesthood law.

Any particular reason for posting the whole previous post when you were only responding to its last sentence?
