If you can only use one word to describe a characteristic of God that we should follow as an example what word would you use?
And why do you choose that word?
How are we to be like God?

Re: How are we to be like God?
Post #141Why would he need to be born of the spirit if he was living in a good relationship with God and he had a beautiful home to live in (the earth) and was told that he would die only if he ate of the tree? What was the meaning of being born of the spirit?myth-one.com wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 12:08 pmA man can only become a spiritual being by being born again of the Spirit as a spirit.onewithhim wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 8:47 am
At what point do you say that Adam would have turned into a spirit body?
Adam is no different. Adam would have become a Spirit if he was born again of the Spirit, as that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
But that has not yet happened to Adam.

Post #142Being "born of the spirit" has no meaning.
On the other hand, "being born of the Spirit" is how one becomes an immortal spiritual bodied being in the Kingdon of God!
John 3:6
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Re: How are we to be like God?
Post #143I agree. But not everybody will become spirits. That is reserved for the co-rulers with Christ in heaven. Most of mankind will live in physical bodies here on the earth, being loyal to our God and showing Him that we respect His commands (which are for our benefit), and living forever.myth-one.com wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2024 5:39 pmBeing "born of the spirit" has no meaning.

But humans do not live forever! Isn't that a little problematic with your "everlasting human" fiction?

Post #145They will. That is why Christ died...so that we could live forever. You seem to pass by what Christ himself has said. Speaking of those humans who shall inherit the Kingdom of God in the world to come, Jesus Christ states:
Neither can they die any more, for they are equal unto the angels... (Luke 20:36)
Are the angels humans?

Your friend foreverBut when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

Love is the salt of life. It takes a moment to understand and eternity to live.

Post #148You had said that humans don't live forever, and that's when I quoted John 3:16. It's very clear that humans can attain to everlasting life. Yes, the ones who are equal to the angels are the ones who will reign with Christ in heaven. There is a relatively small group of them compared to the billions who will live on the earth forever. I don't understand your question about the angels being humans. Of course they are not.

Flesh and blood humans cannot inherit the Kingdom of God.
Humans must be born again as spiritual bodied beings to gain everlasting spiritual bodied life in the Kingdom of God.

Re: How are we to be like God?
Post #150Of course as humans! Most humans will be living on earth in physical bodies forever. The few that go to heaven are the ones that rule with Christ over the earth. They are the only ones who need to be born again, because they will be spirit persons eventually and will change, to be able to live in heaven, the spirit realm. Humans on earth don't need to change to be able to live in the spirit realm. Thus, they don't need to be born again.myth-one.com wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 10:31 pmBut not as humans!onewithhim wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 8:37 pm
