Matthew 12:40
Post #1Whenever the three days and three nights of Matthew 12:40 is brought up in a “discussion with 6th day crucifixion folks, they frequently argue that it is a Jewish idiom for counting any part of a day as a whole day. I wonder if anyone has documentation that shows that the phrase “x days and “xnights was ever used in the first century or before when it absolutely didn’t include at least parts of the “x days and at least parts of the “x nights?

The Messiah said that 3 night times would be involved with His time in the "heart of the earth". However, there are those who believe that the Messiah died on the 6th day of the week and who think that the "heart of the earth" is referring to the tomb or at the earliest to the time between the leaving of His spirit from His body and His resurrection on the 1st day of the week. But this belief allows for only 2 night times to be involved. To reconcile this discrepancy some say that the Messiah was using common Jewish idiomatic language. I am simply asking for examples to support that assertion; i.e., instances where a daytime or a night time was forecast to be involved with an event when no part of the daytime or no part of the night time could have occurred.

GENESIS 40:16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also [was] in my dream, and, behold, three white baskets on my head:
GENESIS 40:17 And in the uppermost basket [there was] of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.
GENESIS 40:18 And Joseph answered and said, This [is] the interpretation thereof: The three baskets [are] three days:
(God takes up the faithful at the same time God kills the "blind and dumb" when the "Three Days of Darkness" takes place in revelation. This is the same conclusion, parable, of the Two Wise Women Praying at the mill and the two blind and dumb men doing nothing in the field)
Very clearly so there is no controversy. During the Night of 12 Hours, the Baker and Butcher have a dream, then Joseph says "Three Days More". You have a figure of "Three and HALF Days". This is the same figure we are presented with in Revelations. This is a literal figure and a parable. "3 and 1/2 Days", and also "Three Days of Darkness" and "42 Months or 1260 Days which is HALF of Seven Years" (or from Flight 370 to the present, following that interpretation, global euthanasia should take place a few days before 8/21/2017)
(Jesus does not give this figure, were are only presented with "Three Days in the Heart of the Earth", this indicates that God does not use this event to parallel the "3 and 1/2 Days of Revelation")
MATTHEW 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
God does not compare Jesus to Joseph of Egypt in Genesis, God instead compares Jesus to Jonah.........................God is not giving any warning before global euthanasia takes place, it is the law that these people die "dumb and blind" and with the pleasure of Revelation 11, in violating the body of the "Two Witnesses", until they are put to death. That is the reason God is very selective in pairing Jesus with Jonah, and Joseph of Genesis with Joseph of Revelation. (Less than 4 full weeks from now, we need to keep these people hurting me, I mean the Antichrist whoever he is, until they pass away, deceased, and globally)

And remember, this topic is essentially directed to those 6th day of the week crucifixion believing folks who think that the "heart of the earth" is referring to the tomb and who think that it was common at the time to say that a daytime or a night time would be involved with an event when no part of the daytime or no part of the night time could have taken place.

brianbbs67,
re: "...just offering an alternative, as anyone can see there are not 3 days and nights between friday and sunday beginning.
In fact there is only 1 night time and 1 daytime between Friday and Sunday.
re: "Which I think was your point?"
Actually, it isn't. If someone says that something is common, in order to legitimately make that assertion they would have to know of other instances to support their assertion of commonality. I am simply asking to see some of them.
