Do we choose God or does God choose us?

My hypocrisy? Funny. If you choose to ignore me fine, otherwise, answer my question. Where in the bible does it say there are exceptions for those like my son?Madeline wrote:What do you mean my sorries aren't true? you have a lot of nerve of quoting the bible passage of not judging others and that is exactly what you do. I'm not responding to you any more, I don't need your hypocrisy.Confused wrote:save your sorries, they arent' true. I never said I don't believe in God. I lack the information to make a decision about His existence. I would like to believe, but people like you make it difficult. I am on this forum to try to make sense of it. If you ever paid attention to any other threads, you might learn this. Tell me now, where in the Bible does it say exceptions exist for those like my son?

Madeline

I don't think there is. But let me state my beliefs.Confused wrote:My hypocrisy? Funny. If you choose to ignore me fine, otherwise, answer my question. Where in the bible does it say there are exceptions for those like my son?
There is no heaven. God is an observer, and experiences everything, through us. There is also no hell. Thats the beauty of Its plan. Once we die, we are re-membered of God. We become god, and it might take a few lives to get there, but we get there. We can't not get there. It is the only destination, via many many paths. Your son having autism, is part of his life experience in this life. Next life, he may be better, or even worse, we don't know. Or, in this life, he has experienced all, and is to rejoin with god when he dies. God has love for all. There is no-one It needs to choose between to put in heaven or hell. There is no risk for Its children.
All the time, if something doesn't make sense, question God. Ask Him to help you understand. Question It about it, and say it doesn't feel right with Who You Are, and don't do it. Say you're going to do something else. And act on it. Your intuition is the best gift. If you feel, in your gut, that you are doing the right thing, while everyone else around you is screaming otherwise, just continue and learn to trust your intuition.

Once again, I apologize for my bad attitude. I do accept that you are sorry about my son. But I take offense when you claim God picks some to be his messengers. It implies that he ignores others. My son can be angel and he can be the devil. I never know. But I do know that his actions go against what God preaches more than they go towards it. Based on this, I have to assume that he would be one of the condemned. I ask you this out of honestly wanting to know. Is there a place in the bible that lists exceptions for people such as Alan. He can't be judged based on what is in his heart, because he shows not conscience or remorse. So how can you be sure he isn't condemned.Madeline wrote:Says who? How do you know that your son isn't going to heaven? I certainly don't believe that God is going to send an autistic to hell, now way, no how! I now understand why you are so confused, you don't even believe in God. And I am sorry to hear about your son.Confused wrote:Because I guess my son (autism/aspergers/severe ADHD) wasnt' one of your precious Gods selections. He can't recieve an offer of salvation that he doesnt comprehend. So tell me, where in your scripture is their an exception for him. I don't have a God to take it up with. I dont' postulate a God exists, you do. So take it up with yours since he is the all mighty.![]()

I am sorry too!
I can get pretty nasty at times and I apologize.
I don't think God picks whomever he wants to be saved as some Calvinists believe. I believe that God knows who will be saved or respond to his offer of salvation. The reason why I don't believe your son will not be condemned is the same reason as why God will not send babies to hell, the scripture supports this. Those who cannot possibly be accountable for their actions, God will judge righteously.
Love,
Madeline

This fallacy, more than anything else, has made me sure that Christians have gotten God totally wrong. (Those Christians at least).

Yet it remains one of the strongest reasons I have heard for people believing. Odd isn't it in such a "civilized, and intelligent" society.goat wrote:Appeal to Fear (Ad Baculum).McCulloch wrote:There is a name for this fallacy. Well, it still doesn't change the fact that it is a very good point!goat wrote:Appeal to Fear (Ad Baculum).McCulloch wrote:There is a name for this fallacy. I just cannot think of it right now.topaz wrote:Tell this to God when you stand before Him on that day.

What are you going to tell Him?
The Bible say's there is going to be, "weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth"
I spend the greatest portion of my time making sure I'm not the one that is going to be wailing!

If you are right, then I hope I find that path before my death. But the way things are going, it doens't look like it will happen. But I will retain hope.Biker wrote:Well, it still doesn't change the fact that it is a very good point!goat wrote:Appeal to Fear (Ad Baculum).McCulloch wrote:There is a name for this fallacy. Is it a good point?? Many Muslims seem to think if you don't accept Mohammed as a prophet of God , you will go to hell. Do you think that is a good point? If not, why is that point any worse that your point?Biker wrote:Well, it still doesn't change the fact that it is a very good point!goat wrote:Appeal to Fear (Ad Baculum).McCulloch wrote:There is a name for this fallacy.
