Okay, this claim is based upon the assumption that the only way to act morally is by following Jesus Christ. That idea is absurd, and this claim is vacuous. There is no inherent superiority in following Jesus over any other moral exemplar. if you completely follow the teachings of a moral exemplar, you will not behave immorally. The above claim is completely vacuous because it could be said of a very large number of people other than Jesus Christ and is therefore irrelevant. those who do not follow any moral exemplar are obviously going to behave immorally unless they are their own exemplar. Aristotle is a perfectly good example. if somebody follows Aristotle's teaching he will not be dangerous and will be a moral exemplar. you cannot possibly prove that wrong because anybody you point at I can simply say does not follow Aristotle, but merely claims to.easyrider wrote: I don't know of anyone who follows Jesus' teachings who is dangerous. Just those who don't.
questions for debate: Is following Jesus teachings inherently superior to following anybody else' teaching?
is the claim that following Jesus' teaching means you are a moral person relevant at all?
how can it be shown that such people are moral ONLY because they follow Jesus' teaching and wold not be moral if they followed Aristotle or somebody else?
