Post #1My wife just gave birth to beautiful 8lbs girl.
She is healthy and happy and so is mom. So I may not be around much for the next little while. I'll try to drop in on occassion. But for now, duty calls.

Congratulations Goose! A great privilege for you.

Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.
Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.
There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.

Hey, thanks everybody, that means a lot. It is a special time as those of you who are parents know (and for those of you not parents yet, I highly recommend it).
Do you have children/grand children, Zzyzx?
Maybe, when I get time I'll start a thread here. "Tell us about your offspring." We can blather on about our kids and the funny things they say and do. That would be fun and interesting.
Anyway, thanks everybody.
Yes, we have another gosl... I mean daughter turning three this month. She's very happy to have a sister.Zzyzx wrote:.

Thus, according to conventional thought, I would be considered a "great grandfather" (at just shy of seventy years of age chronologically). However, conventional thinking does not apply to me very often – and my attitude toward relatives is (shrug) rather unconventional.
Almost fifty years ago I became the father of a daughter and a couple years later a son -- who I consider "offspring" rather than "children" (our language is so cumbersome at times). About thirty years ago they began having children (producing offspring). About ten years ago that next generation probably married and began having children.Goose wrote:Do you have children/grand children, Zzyzx?
