Cnorman, you have certainly had a major impact on that person. It may be negative in that instance, but your influence is positive and powerful elsewhere. I hope that my adversaries are as frustrated and emotional when attempting to deal with my arguments.
However, we benefit little by focusing on our detractors or their opinions. It is our overall effect that matters. In my opinion, we are well advised to write for the silent readers who search for answers to their personal questions about spirituality. Though we may address adversaries in debate, hundreds or thousands read our words – and evaluate the merits of what we say.
