Genetic Modification.

Post by Antagonist »

Genetic Modification, it has been applied to the flora and fauna already; will we be next in line?

Some background information:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_modification

I know that aswell as there is an ethic dispute about abortion and euthenasia, which is about ending human life, there should also be a diversity of opinions about Genetic Engineering, which is about changing human life...

I for one are in favor of GM (genetic modification). GM can give us positive traits of animals, it should be able to make us resistant for radiation, it might make us have a gene for hibernation > causing deep space travel to be possible, it would make our children be stronger and better survivors than we are.

I'm no expert on this so I don't know what the downsides of GM would be.

I think that these new super humans could be a big step forward with regards to the developement of our race (whith race I mean the human race in general).
Probably many genetically transmittable deseases could be exterminated!

There are certainly many ethical issues to be dealt with, but I don't see a compelling argument against genetic modification of humans.

That's the whole thing. No one knows what the downside of genetic modifications might be. I think that extreme caution is warranted in this area.

Why do you continue to use the outdated term human race? Human species would be more accurate.

What McCulloch said.

Add plant life/farming to that as well.
