Introduction

Hello, my name is Michael, I consider myself both a practical and a theoretical atheist. I'm just 16 years old as of currently, and aside from some YouTube debates, I'm quite new to the whole thing. English isn't my native language, so no, I cannot speak with complex terms. And no, I cannot speak with perfect grammar. I'm still having a bit of a difficulty translating my thoughts into written English, mind you.

I've been thinking lately about the psycho-philosophy aspect of religion. What attracts people into religion in the first place? Is it because they aren't certain about their origins, so they find such a simple explanation plausible? Does this mean many people became members of a specific religion simply because it was there? Is scientific creationism "half the truth"?

I noticed Christians mainly discuss how to interpret the Gospel these days, but I'm not interested in something as shallow, I'm interested in going as deep as the first few pages of Genesis. If the bottom of the pyramid can be dismissed, so can the rest of it.

Welcome to the forum Michael. I think you might find some interesting contrasts to your beliefs if you keep an open mind and learn the practical rules of logic. Just because one premise is wrong, it doesn't necessarily mean the entire assertion is wrong.

I look forward to seeing how you contribute to the forum.

What we do for others and the world remains
and is immortal.
