I found this forum in the process of research of alternate religions you might say. Well the Lord knows me well, he knows I love a good debate and defending His word. I feel it was no stroke of chance I found this place.

Of course as a Christian I was left shocked at some of the questions I've seen in my brief membership here thus far. However when I answer questions I can only give the scriptures as they were written which generally lends to a peaceful end. I do have opinions however the Gospel typically helps me with those.

Am I a sinner? Of course, I sin every day, we all do. Jesus was pretty clear in the Gospel when He said I'm not here for the healthy and righteous I'm here for the sick and sinning. What separates me from non believers and false teaching is the fact I keep dropping to my knees before God and talking to him about it. I'd love to be Super Christian in a cape, but God despises that, he hates pride. I try to keep that in mind.

Why? Do you not have the Holy Spirit living within you? How is it that you feel that you cannot but choose to sin?

You ought to know every man born is a sinner (except Jesus). I try very hard each day, but times come when we fall short. God knows that, thats why he gave us Jesus. Show me the sinless man.

That is the Christian concept. However, I don't buy into that concept. You mean it sound like God is Santa Claus, keeping track of who is naughty or nice.

The sinless man is the man who does not accept the concept of sin as Christainty has it.

It gladdens me to see you note that! I’d like to quote from Mitchell Silver’s An Optional God: Secular Reflections on New Jewish Theology (as quoted in Daniel C. Dennett’s book Breaking The Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon):

Like Santa, God “knows if you are sleeping, he knows if you’re awake, he knows if you’ve been bad or good”… The lyrics continue “so be good for goodness’ sake.” Catchy but a logical solecism. In logic the song should have continued “so be good for the sake of the electronic equipment, dolls, sports gear and other gifts you hope to get but will get only if the omniscient and just Santa judges you worthy of receiving.” If you were good for goodness’ sake, the all–seeing Santa would be irrelevant as a motivator of your virtue.

Well honestly if any of you had been paying attention you would have seen that I strive for the biblical response. The bible says, we are born with sinful nature. I have 2 kids, and they both were cute little sinless creations (in dads eyes), but it doesn't take long before babies grow and start testing us, it's automatic. My oldest is 5 now and sin seems to be his middle name some days, but he at least prays to God and asks for forgiveness.

So? The Dhammapada says that we are suffering under a delusion.

It is not until around the age of seven that a child develops a true sense of the 'other'. The ability to see things from a point of view other than their own. The 'sin' you see in him is projection. Why should instilling fear and guilt into one who does not yet understand not be considered child abuse?
