Does 3G phones exist in the U.S?

I was just wondering, has this technology come to the U.S yet, or are they still behind?

I know what we call GSM still do not exist, ansd they had to make their own system, and as the U.S been behind in years when it comes to mobile technology i find it weird that they would not atleast implement the new systems created. I know you got sms quite recently doh (in phone time).

Anyway, is it still just 1900/850, or have they got GSM 900/1800 and 3G atleast in some areas?
