I have debated discrimination from both sdes and one of my arguements even I don't like to answer but I eventualy do.
In a sence answering positively or negatively can be correct. One is more correct than the other.

You find yourself on the outside of a space ship.
Two space people are floating away by accident and you can only save the life of one.
They are the same distace away and all other conditions are identical.
Except that one of the space people is of the same race as you. The other is not.
Which one will you save, remembering that all other conditions are the same.

I did not use the polling function because I would like a brief explanation for your decision with your reply.

Re: Discrimination is good
Post #2You are seeking a simple answer to a complex situation. If it was a matter of just saving one to return to earth with, then I would likely save the person who was most likely able to help me run the craft back to earth. Race isn't even a factor. Law of survival is. If both are equally competent, than I would save the one who I got along with the best. If I considered them both to be equal friends, then I would have to consider other factors. I doubt that race would be the issue in any case. There is no right or wrong answer to your situation. The fact that you are making race the sole issue in determining who to save and who not to is what makes your situation wrong.Greatest I Am wrote:I have debated discrimination from both sdes and one of my arguements even I don't like to answer but I eventualy do.

That answer is not allowed in the premise. "[A]ll other conditions are the same." Presumably, that means that your sexual attraction to the two and their sexual attraction to you (or lack) would be equal.Furrowed Brow wrote:I'd probably save the one I most wanted to have sex with.
This leads me to the difficulty in this problem. All other conditions are seldom the same. It is like the Physics professor who tells you to ignore wind resistance and friction. I would really like to but the world does not work that way.

Race and colour make no difference. In reality I would try to find a difference that meant something to me. Who did I most admire, who did I last have an argument with, who made me laugh the most.....it will be something personal...... that in that split second allows me to make a choice... but race is not one of those factors.
Race is a bit of non issue really.
Re: Discriminationm
Post #10Would you like me to say I would choose the person with the same race as me? That is ludicrous. Race has no bearing and in reality, without a diverse population, I think that population would become stagnant. I have no issues with interracial relationships and only get riled up when I see people lobbying for special rights rather than equal rights. You want to know who I would save if all conditions were equal, save for there race, it wouldn't really matter, as long as I could save one I would be happy because no one likes to be alone in space.Greatest I Am wrote:I see the majority are not answrering the question.
