Hi everyone,
I'm new to this board and I'm looking forward to discussing religious topics and points of view with you all. I've registered on a couple of other boards and have found that although they use the word "debate" in their board descriptions...debate is strictly forbidden. I find that odd and quite frustrating, but not really surprising.
Anyway, here I am.

Yes, bluesbob we try to have real debate. We do have certain rules regarding these debates but you will notice there is no statement of faith or enforced orthodoxy.

Post #4You will find that debate is encouraged here. There are some very diverse opinions.bluesbob wrote:Hi everyone,

I've been trying to post under many topics, but found I'm a little afraid of being redundant. So I thought I would just elaborate a little on my introduction and maybe that would generate a few questions.
I guess I'll start by saying I'm a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and have over eleven years of sobriety. I say that because if you know anything about 12-step programs you know we "dabble" in spirituality.
I'm a theist who bounces around with agnosticism when things aren't going my way. That was not meant figuratively, it is literally. I, like so many others, get quite upset with a God who doesn't do things "my way". Oh well.
I played around with atheism early in my life, but I found that there is no certainty in the non-existence of God. I kind of like of idea of a God. It sure explains a lot more than mere chance and blind luck. Plus there is faith. I like faith. It has driven men to do great things...even though that same faith has also made men do some terrible things.
My concept of God is very dynamic. It changes with the more I read and discuss with other people. But no matter how much my idea of God changes, I still believe Him/Her/It to be a benevolent God. I don't believe in the merciless, unjust, and very strange being lined out in the Old Testament.
I came to this board primarily because I have a problem with Christianity. I also have problems with other religions, but they aren't shoved down my throat like the aforementioned religion.
I don't what else to say at the moment, but I think this may help me to jump on a topic. But, like I said, I hope no one condemns me if I bring up a subject that has been covered many times before.
