Kindness and civility

Post by Haven »

I know these things can be difficult beyond measure. I’m guilty of snapping at people on this forum, getting frustrated and saying things I shouldn’t, all sorts of incivility. I’m not posting this to act like I’m some kind of perfect person (when I’m most certainly not).

But still, we should strive to be kind and civil, here and elsewhere. Regardless of our various perspectives and beliefs, we’re all human beings seeking truth, understanding and a good life. I can respect that even in people with whom I vehemently disagree, and many others can too.

Any child can mock and make fun, but it takes a woman or man of character to disagree respectfully. Just consider that.

Have a great day! :)

I'd like to use the opportunity to ask everyone to share some tips on how to be kind and civil.

I'll start it off:
- Treat others as how you would like to be treated.
- Don't assume that you know it all. Be humble and be willing to learn from others.
- Don't assume your opponent doesn't know anything. Give others the benefit of the doubt.
- Be willing to take the high road, esp when others attack you.
- Before posting, review your post and edit out any personal comments.
