Hello everybody,
I am so glad to find this fine forum of exchanging ideas. My background includes extensive studies in Classical Greek literature theater and philosophy. I am acquainted with the whole spectrum of Greek studies starting with Homer of old up to Kavafis and Kazantzakis of modern times. I have also studied psychology extensively. My recent stop has been the Bible and here I have been captivated. The prophetic studies that I have done on this book have taken my breath away. I only wish I could transmit to everybody the astonishing results and conclusions I have come up with. For my part I am convinced that only an all knowing diety can be responsible for such a phenomenal cohesiveness and accuracy. Needless to say, after studying prophecy I am heavily biased towards the idea of divine inspiration of the Bible. I respect other points of view of course but I cannot help feeling that if you could see what I see you will most likely be adjusting your beliefs and convictions. I am looking forward to some serious discussions and civilized exchange of ideas.

Post #2This is awesome. I'd love to hear more about this.indjohn wrote:My background includes extensive studies in Classical Greek literature theater and philosophy. I am acquainted with the whole spectrum of Greek studies starting with Homer of old up to Kavafis and Kazantzakis of modern times.
An example
Post #4This may be more appropriate for another forum but I am going to post it here as an example of how I generally think about the bible given my background. I do see the Bible a a perfect illustration of the Arch of Aristotelian logic.
Aristotle was dealing with the problem of the "regress of reason". Think of it this way. If you believe something, you have to give a reason to explain your belief. When you give this reason you will be asked to prove this reason with another reason and the process will continue indefinetely. How do you deal with this "regress of reason"? Aristotle proposed the theory of first causes or axioms. These are universal truths that being self evident do not to be proved, they are axioms. How do we arrive at these axioms? Through inductive reasoning. If a statement proves to be true by every and any avenue of reasoning then it can achieve the status of an axiom and it no longer needs to be proved. It can now serve as a bedrock for the proof of questions posed, following the route of deductive reasoning.
The Bible offers itself to the scrutiny of Aristotelian logic and it fares better than any other document in the world. The axiom that can be inductively arrived at is this "The Bible Is The Word Of God"
There are so many avenues of induction to this axiom but here I will only mention one. In the book of Job which was written thousands of years ago we see a scientific statement made that could only have come from divine inspiration.Job 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon NOTHING.
Even the scientific knowledge of Sir Isaac Newton fell short of explaining this statement. After all gravity is a force it is not a nothing.
It was left up to Einstein to totally explain that very ancient statement. Einstein's theory of relativity paints this picture for the state of the earth.
The earth is in a free fall through the warped spacetime created by the supermassive body, which is the sun. The phenomenon of history, science and archeology constantly being updated to match the references of the Bible is nothing new and it is one of the strongest avenues of inductive reasoning that concludes that the statement "The Bible Is The Word Of God" is an axiom". Unfortunatelly many doubters mangle the proper application of such inductive reasoning and they conclude that the Bible is just a bunch of incoherencies. The most unfortunate thing though is not the abuse of the Bible by improper application of Aristotelian inductive reasoning. The most unfortunate thing is the abuse of the Bible by its own friends. The people that confess to be believers. It is distressing to see how these people mangle the deductive reasoning part of the arch of Aristotelian logic. You see once you have accepted the Bible as the word of God the work is only half done. You now need to apply sound deductive reasoning in order to correctly interprete Bible doctrine. If the rules of Aristotelian logic and deductive reasoning were correctly applied there would not be the spectacle of having hundreds of denominations and thousands of flavors of Christianity. It is a truism that the Bible has suffered more in the hands of its friends than in the hands of its enemies.
I am not going to elaborate here on the rules of Aristotelian logic and their application but I would like to inform you that these rules are most prominent in my thinking and you will see them in action if you read my posts in this forum and in my ebooks that I will be soon releasing in my website which is now still under construction.
