Notice how many posts lately start off with a string of [quotes] that are never ended with matching [/quotes]? It makes it really hard to figure out who said what and near impossible to coherently quote.
Just sayin'

I followed a quote till I came to a moat
then stepped in a boat to insure I would float
I crossed the moat on a positive note
and came to a field that was full of wild oat
I knew the journey would be remote
but I was determined to stay devote
so I cleared my throat and screamed "Unquote!"
but all that did was frighten a goat
so I took off my coat and started to gloat
cause I knew what I wrote was the antidote
then stepped in a boat to insure I would float
I crossed the moat on a positive note
and came to a field that was full of wild oat
I knew the journey would be remote
but I was determined to stay devote
so I cleared my throat and screamed "Unquote!"
but all that did was frighten a goat
so I took off my coat and started to gloat

This is a simple example. Try quoting and responding to individual sections while keeping the post back-references accurate.

Re: Quotes
Post #7I wholeheartedly agree with this. Particularly with the latter point.Ancient of Years wrote: Notice how many posts lately start off with a string of [quotes] that are never ended with matching [/quotes]? The difficulty is exacerbated when posts are parsed excessively. I've seen single paragraphs routinely parsed into seven separate one sentence quotes, each with a one line response. This is like interrupting every time one utters a single sentence.
I suggest choosing a single point [or two] to respond to and edit the quote accordingly while preserving the context.
If the reader wants to respond to more points, he can do so in a separate post.

So I am to assume that there is no easy way to do this? You have to fill in the names of who made the quotes if there is a string of quotes. No shortcuts? Other posters seem to do it right, and mine are all done manually.
I'm sure it will get easier as I go along but I am finding it very time-consuming right now.
Thanks if anyone can see what I am doing wrong, if anything. (regarding quotes that is, lol)
Peace!
