To live.

No, I mean to live!

Life is not defined by simply having a pulse: it is defined by doing something with your life that honors God/the Gods/however you understand Deity. (And yes, I know the Christians may agree with the sentiment, even if they disagree with the phrasing. :) )

Amen (though I would argue profusely against the rest of the phrasing ;) )! "'The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I [Jesus] have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.'" (John 10:10, NIV) "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31, NIV)

For me, the Westminster Shorter Catechism sums it up pretty well...

Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him for ever.

Heh... yeah, that's the first commandment, really.

Origin, Meaning, Purpose, Destiny... to arrive at meaning, we must understand our origin. Do we have ultimate meaning or accidental meaning. Does your love for someone result from selfish animal instincts, or is there a purpose to you, which causes you to extend that outwardly?

Meaning is that which gives you purpose. I first heard of the Origin-through-Destiny logic through Ravi Zacharias who has a great radio program. Anyone interested in listening to a scholar on the level of C.S. Lewis regarding matters of origin and meaning, check out his radio messages. He has spoken at Harvard, Oxford, Georgia Tech, et al.

So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.

Life is that property which a being will lose as a result of falling out of a cold and mysterious cave thirteen miles above ground level.
