What is a Sociopath?

Post by dona123 »

Hi

A sociopath is a person who has antisocial personality disorder. The term sociopath is no longer used to describe this disorder. The sociopath is now described as someone with antisocial personality disorder.

The main characteristic of a sociopath is a disregard for the rights of others. Sociopaths are also unable to conform to what society defines as a normal personality. Antisocial tendencies are a big part of the sociopath’s personality. This pattern usually comes into evidence around the age of 15. If it is not treated, it can develop into adulthood.

Thanks

A little random. But for any discussion involving sociopaths, it is also important to note that Psychopaths and Sociopaths are not synonymous, as they are often portrayed. Almost all psychopaths are also sociopaths, but not all sociopaths are psychopaths. Psychopaths are almost all born and have a strong genetic component which usually starts becoming evident much younger than age 15. Sociopaths that are not the result of genetics are usually created through some sort of severe or prolonged trauma, which is why they may start exhibiting evidence for it in their teens instead of in earlier childhood.
