People I'd like to meet in "The Next Life," if any

This is just for fun, so let's not get all wrapped around the axle debating possibilities or credibilities or doctrines. Who would YOU like to meet in Heaven, or the next astral plane, or wherever?

Assumptions:

A. Everybody is in the same place. Access to either Hell or Heaven not required.

B. Everybody speaks the same language; communication won't be a problem.

C. Semi-legendary personages really existed, or at least someone upon whom the legends are based (I suggest no indisputably fictional people allowed, but whatever floats your personal boat).

I'll start in a separate post. Post as many as you like, and add further posts as people occur to you.

And remember -- this is just for fun.

Here's my own fantasy dinner party:

1. Leonardo da Vinci.

2. Moses.

3. (So I'm curious) Jesus.

4. William Shakespeare.

5. Isaac Asimov.

6. Alexander the Great.

7. Miyamoto Musashi.

8. Gautama Siddhartha (the Buddha).

9. Moses ben Maimon (Maimonides).

10. Jacques DeMolay (last Grand Master of the Knights Templar).

11. King Arthur.

12. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

13. Erich Weiss (aka Harry Houdini).

14. Clive Staples (C.S.) Lewis.

15. John Ronald Reuel Tolkien.

No doubt others will occur to me.

In all seriousness, I gotta go with everbody who's ever existed, even the "evil" ones (since it's the afterlife and I can assume we're in some utopia).

Having lived on the road for so long, I don't have a whole lot of long-term friends; couple that with a general shyness or just being a loner and I feel like I've missed a lot of great conversations with a lot of great people.

Acts 13:48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.

My entire ancestral lineage.

Thomas Jefferson

JFK

Hitler

Jesus (though already mentioned)

Abraham Lincoln

Marilyn Monroe (my first marriage was to a credible copy of her)

Aristotle, Galileo, Copernicus

Hercules

Thor

Darwin

The Pasteurs

Gandhi

Stalin

Eisenhower

Alfred Wegener (does anyone recognize an early proponent of "continental drift" -- later known as "Plate Tectonics")?

Einstein (though I would probably not understand anything he said)

And several members of this forum who presumably are not yet dead.

Wonderful! Every one of them!

I'd add Sir Isaac Newton, Pythagoras and Euclid to the mix. Plus Homer and Dante Alighieri.

Movie stars? Too many to list. Start with Steve McQueen, Jack Lemmon and John Wayne. Women -- Judy Garland, Ingrid Bergman and the Hepburns, Katherine and Audrey.

This IS fun!

Eventually it would be nice to meet everyone and get their take.
Of course there are all my ancestors and loved ones as well as the countless interesting people that have ever been or will be.. I imagine we could go from person to person place to place and then make the rounds again.
Then I get a little time and remember after a few hundred years I should go see some old friend or even mom and dad or my grand parents, aunts and uncles and so on.
Then maybe we could watch and even get involved in making new worlds and new life because the experiment was pretty neat last time around.
Although I agree horrific suffering tells us something about the kind of God that might be possible it seems not all suffering has been so bad, ask any mother after birth as she s holding her child.
It is no excuse for suffering but it is still seemingly worth it.
I tend to think feeling good is good and it is a good thing to attach our good feelings with things we feel and know are good.
Good satisfactions make the world rather interesting if not rewarding.

As you know on the personal level as well as via the Forum, Charles, I have no interest in entertainers (other than MM who was the role model for my first wife -- one beautiful and wonderfully sexy woman -- PBUH). I classify "sports" figures as entertainers and have similar disinterest. Likewise for fictional characters and fiction writers (other than the writer of "Shakespeare" (whoever that may have been), and maybe Hemingway (who shared an interest in fishing for big game fish -- and firearms).

I agree -- great topic -- that probably says a lot about those who are bold enough to post their true thoughts and preferences.

I'd like to add:

Wernher von Braun

Members of the investigating team of the "Roswell Incident"

Planners and participants of/in 9/11 events

James Hutton ("father of Uniformitarianism")

Joseph Smith (and his friend Maroni)

Ooh, awesome topic, I like some that have been named very much. I never would have thought to list Hitler or Stalin, but it would definitely be interesting to meet them. Assuming the afterlife implies I'm somewhat too "zen" to be enraged.

In no particular order:

My grandfather (father's father), died when I was just a baby, and it sounds like he was a remarkable man. I'd love to meet him.

Simone de Beauvoir

Darwin

Jesus (I'm curious too, and they do make him sound awesome)

J.R.R. Tolkien... I just have to meet someone who can create an entire world.

C.S. Lewis

Susan B. Anthony

Walt Disney

John Lennon

Elvis!

Churchill

Aristotle, and actually, any awesome philosopher would be on my list.

God, if it's there and it's something that can be spoken with (I think it's not that wild an assumption, if we assume there is an afterlife...)

Queen Elizabeth I... and her mother Anne Boleyn.

Jose de San Martin

More will come to mind later...
