Hi all,

just found this place and thought I would sign up. It seems like you can get an actual decent discussion here rather than random insults and the normal "well you will just have to burn in hell if you don't believe".

I have many questions about religion which has interested me for years . Mostly form a "how on earth can they believe something so obviously wrong" point of view.

I expect of spend most of my time in the Christianity section but who knows where it will lead to.

For the record I am a 48 year old I.T. processional. I live in the north of the U.K. and am married to a Texan who moved over here 15 years or so ago. Never believed in any sort of a god. Willing to listen to arguments against my position and if you present me proof of a god I will bow down and worship him with the rest of you. Obviously by proof I mean something in the scientific sense - not "well read this section of the bible and it will show you"

That's certainly the aim, to have a forum full of thoughtful and respectful people. I'd say we do quite well 8-)

Being an atheist myself, I can definitely understand having a lot of questions regarding religion. However, please keep in mind that just like you don't like it when people tell you you'll burn in Hell for not believing, theists don't like it when you propose their beliefs are "obviously wrong". I think a few of our most respected theist members will surprise you.

I hope you like it here :)

You do make a valid point. I have always been wary of any one who uses the word "obviously" in any sort of a debate. Maybe a better way to put it would be to say "believe that which logic and rational thought says can not be true".

Quite right. This is for civil arguments. For "abuse" you want Room 12-A just along the corridor.

Hi Everso,

Welcome to the best forum for debate and discussion of religious topics that I have found on the Internet -- by FAR.

Yes, you will find civil debates here. If you observe any deviation from that use the "report this post" button on the upper right corner of each post. Moderation is very fair to all.

We look forward to your contributions.

Please feel free to quote this statement wherever you would like. I'll even inscribe it on a plaque and send it to you.

I'd sign that. Who knew such a thing as "civil and thoughtful religious debates" existed?

Proof is for liquor and mathematics. I would be happy to consider any evidence of the existence of a god, but I have never seen any.
