I am starting this thread because Winepusher asked me if I am a Christian. if anyone else wishes to ask me personal questions, I will attempt to answer them to the best of my ability. You are all welcome to ask anything you like. I promise you that I do not get offended by any questions but I will tell you it's none of your business if I think you are asking something that you do not need to know about me, so please don't get offended if I say that to you.

Winepusher asked:
Are you a christian? Another user (thevoiceofgod) claimed to be a christian but his ideas strayed far from mainstream christianity, and as I was reading this post, it seems to me yours do to.

The same Spirit that is in Jesus is also in me. That same Spirit was also considered to be of the devil by the hypocrites who crucified Jesus.
Some people think I am a Christian, some think I am of God and others think I am of the devil. I will leave the judgment to you.
I am no more a Christian than Jesus is.
I am the same kind of believer in God that Jesus is.

Can you be direct with your response?

My answer is that I can be as direct as you want me to be. What else do you want to know?
In short here is a summary of my life...
I was born into a family of agnostics.
I began questioning about God when I was about 6 or 7 when I came across religious instructions at school.
I went to a few churches with friends when I was a child. Some of those I attended included Anglican, Presbyterian, Baptist, Catholic, Pentecostal.
When I was 15 years old I responded to an altar call and gave my life to Jesus.
I regularly attended christian churches for approx 30 years after that.
I stopped attending religious institutions about ten years ago and the reason for that is a long story.
These days I only go to church when friends invite me for special occasions and I do it for their benefit not mine. I do it to show them I still love them and have nothing against them but I do stand against the false doctrines in Christianity.
I love the Lord with all my heart and I hate the deceptions in religions.
I do not call myself a Christian simply because Christianity today is not about being a follower of Christ but rather about belonging to a religious institution.
I follow the Truth and reality of Jesus who IS Truth. He is also not a Christian.
I am a woman who was born in 1954. I am married and have been married to the same man for over 30 years. I have four adult children and five grandchildren all under 5 so far.

Does that mean you treat people differently according to gender?
I don't require more respect than any male just because I am a woman. I can handle more than a lot of men can handle when it comes to insults, implied or otherwise. This forum is very tame compared to some I have been in.
Since we are chatting here, would you like to share your story with me and tell me a bit about yourself?

You know, I would have sworn you were a man. I'm not actually sure why, but I hope it's not because I thought you seemed resilient. Ah well, we have only minimal control over our biases.I don't require more respect than any male just because I am a woman. Men seem to treat women differently when they know they are women than they do if they think they are a man.Adamoriens wrote:You know, I would have sworn you were a man. Why do men do that?
I ask all men to keep treating me the same as you treat any other man. I deserve no different treatment just because I am female.

I think its the culture and how we were raised that influenced this, for example when i was a kid and my mother told me to 'treat girls with respect and act nicely around them' it did not mean i should not do the same for boys, but to show extra respect to girls.Skyangel wrote: I ask all men to keep treating me the same as you treat any other man. This respect has nothing to do with superiority or inferiority but rather morals and personal values.
Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" without being put to the test?
We have tested those before them, for GOD must distinguish those who are truthful, and He must expose the liars.

Post #7Well, I generally am a little more respectful and polite with woman cause thats how mom raised me!Skyangel wrote:Does that mean you treat people differently according to gender?
I am a christian, and an avid lover of Music (ranging from Rock, Alternative to Classical and Orchaestral) and English. I was born into a non practicing Buddhist family but converted to Christianity in my high school years. I'm a proud Roman Catholic and college student, and enjoy debating politics and religion. I got into debating through my highschool mock trial team, and my director and highschool government teacher was a liberal attorney. Since I, myself, am a traditional small government fiscal/social conservative radical-capitalist constitutionalist we would always argue during class disscussions and I would be very partisan and outspoken in all my Government essays and reports. But I don't mine being labeled a christian, and I think that being in a Church community is essential to the christian spiritual life.Skyangel wrote:Since we are chatting here, would you like to share your story with me and tell me a bit about yourself?

Personally, being a mother myself and having brought up two boys and two girls, I tend to think mothers try to make their boys realize they are physically stronger than girls and need to be more gentle with them physically than they are with other boys. Maybe that lesson tends to make some boys be more gentle emotionally with girls as well?Murad wrote:I think its the culture and how we were raised that influenced this, for example when i was a kid and my mother told me to 'treat girls with respect and act nicely around them' it did not mean i should not do the same for boys, but to show extra respect to girls.Skyangel wrote: I ask all men to keep treating me the same as you treat any other man. Anyway, as adults on the internet in any debate situation I really think all people ought to be treated equally and no gentler treatment or more respect ought to be given to females than is given to males.

Post #9What made you convert to Christianity rather than adopt Buddhism?WinePusher wrote:Well, I generally am a little more respectful and polite with woman cause thats how mom raised me!Skyangel wrote:Does that mean you treat people differently according to gender?

What are you studying in college?
All religions teach that it is essential for you to attend their religious institutions for the good of your soul otherwise you end up damned to hell.
Besides that, if no members attended their churches they would not get any money from their tithes and offerings and be out of business.
Religions are a business that proselytize people for their own financial benefit and they bind people to their traditions and rituals and make them slaves to the religions which they attend.
Religions tend to bind people more than set them free. In Matt 23 Jesus chastises the hypocrites for proselytizing people, binding them with heavy burdens and making them children of hell.
That is what religions still do today. They bind people to their doctrines and religious rituals and make them afraid to think for themselves.

Post #10I can understand. I'd be curious in your thoughts of a church that I'm in the process of starting - New Kind Church.Skyangel wrote: I do not call myself a Christian simply because Christianity today is not about being a follower of Christ but rather about belonging to a religious institution.
