My name is Matthew Dial. I recently turned 35 years old. Over the last couple of days I experienced my first "discussion" with some folks who claimed to be atheists on a forum at the Runners' World Web site. The entire experience was captivating and so I would like to learn more about this and also how to do a better job of it.
I have a wife and three children (ages 7, 6 and 4) and two jobs. So time is at a premium and I will probably just discuss and view debates from the sidelines for now. My part-time job is on staff at a church and I have some seminary class experience as well as a B.S. in Entrepreneurship Management from Southern Illinois University. My day job is in management at a title agency/law firm in Central Florida.

Welcome.
I am a humanist and an atheist. And a former Christian. I will try to respond to your interest in our beliefs (or lack thereof).

Post #5Welcome Matthew. You certainly will be exposed to a high level of debate with atheists here.md_clermont wrote:My name is Matthew Dial. I recently turned 35 years old. “What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?
