A little place to just chat about Books. What are you reading? Would you recommend it?

I just wrapped up Runaway Horses, the second novel in Yukio Mishima's Sea of Fertility tetralogy. I found that the characters weren't as relatable as those in Spring Snow (the first novel), but that they remained realistic in their thoughts and (re)actions.
Eh. You win some, you lose some. Now to counter this literary read with some pulp sci-fi fun. :)

Finished Away: A Novel, Amy Bloom

Good characters but way to many of them were throw away characters. A good read nontheless.

I have 3 books by this author in all, but for some reason I have been unable to get past about page 20 in any of them. I'm glad I made the effort, I really enjoyed it.

Just finished The Assassin's Song by M.G. Vassanji
Category: Fiction
Format: Hardcover, 336 pages
Publisher: Doubleday Canada
ISBN: 978-0-385-66351-9 (0-385-66351-X)
Pub Date: August 21, 2007
From the Publisher because I can't be bothered to write something myself: wrote:The Assassin’s Song is a shining study of the conflict between ancient loyalties and modern desires, a conflict that creates turmoil the world over – and it is at once an intimate portrait of one man’s painful struggle to hold the earthly and the spiritual in balance.
I've also read The In-Between World of Vikram Lall. Both are worth reading.
