Who do YOU think Jesus is?

Post by Rose2020 »

Mathew 16 verses 13-20.

Atheists who come here often ask Christian believers for proof, evidence that Jesus was who He said He was in the Bible.

I say carefully read the section above. No human being can convince someone that God exists, that Jesus is Messiah. The question always has to be - who do YOU think He is? The answer always has to be answered by God Himself. Only He can change your heart and bring you to faith, if you are open to it. Life can and does bring people to that place.

This is true for me. I was an atheist until I decided I could not live life that way any longer. So I prayed and the faith came to me. I have absolutely no doubt.

So who do you say Jesus was?

What do you think of those people who are being shepherded and guided by Jesus today? Aren't they of sound mind because they know who Jesus is in His existence and living?"
What do you think of those people who are being commanded and directed by Allah today? Aren't they of sound mind because they know who Allah is in His existence and living?

I know.

My point is, people will follow anyone provided they are someone whom they respect, who they can look to as a person. It does not matter, whether that individual is God in the flesh, or anybody in particular. If there is goodness and character in the person, people will respect and follow them. This person can even be a figment of their imagination, and they will still draw inspiration and strength from their example.

Following someone who is benevolent and respectable is a good deed, but it does not merit the salvation of our souls, except when it’s the Lord Jesus Christ.

Oh I see. Your question is whether the followers of Jesus are of sound mind since they claim to "know" that he is God in the flesh.

I think most are sincere, and therefore regard themselves as rational. I think that they go by the standards of rationality that they see, and come to more or less reasoned conclusions.

"Insanity is rare in individuals, but in Society, madness is the rule." - An a propos quote, I think.

I am sorry I misunderstood your question. But I think in some ways I answered it. People are attracted to goodness - and goodness partakes of Rationality (the classic triumvirate of the Good, the True, and the Beautiful, which play off one another, one may say are "sourced" in a single principle.). Sometimes head and heart get mixed up and that is the best that we can do. And since we all live in societies that think alike, our first instinct is to go by the canons of rationality everyone more or less accepts. This does not, however, cause us to be immune to varying degrees of irrationality.

That is maybe point of fact why I brought up Allah. I don't believe Allah exists. But for a Muslim he does exist, and even serves a rational function. I think the same may be said for a Christian who believes Jesus is God. Both the Muslim and Christian yield to a more or less vetted canon of rationality, which stops their beliefs from being totally irrational at least, I think.

I endeavor For-Itself,

Bible followers who claim to be Christians yield to the canon of rationality—the Bible. But the true followers of Jesus Christ, Christians, yield only to their Good Pastor and Teacher across all generations—the real and forever living Lord Jesus Christ."

You seem to make a distinction between the Bible and the "true Jesus." I wonder, how do you know you are encountering the real Jesus apart from the Bible? I touched on this in the newest topic I made if you want to take a look: "Love? Which Love?"

The bible is not Jesus and vice-versa. If we want to be saved, all we need is the real and forever living Christ Jesus alone. The bible is not a prerequisite to the salvation of our souls.

I’ll try to visit your thread - Love? Which Love?

From all readings: historical and religious, I have no doubt that Jesus was/the only Son of God - the promised Messiah that would save mankind from the power of sin ... by shedding His own Blood, as our Lamb.
He is deity -
He and His Father have simply always existed -
