Ok, so I got this email that said I should introduce myself here.
My name is Barbara.
I am 19 years old.
I go to FSU and am majoring in Marine Biology with a minor in Genetics.
I like to surf the net, watch old movies, and annoy the heck out of my mom (as I am doing now, ha ha).
I am Christian but am the minority in my family, I am the only one who is religious except my little sister, but she is only 9 so she doesn't really count.
Why I joined this, I have been reading my moms posts for a long time now and instead of arguing with her, I decided I am going to argue with you all instead. I think I may not get in as much hot water this way. With any luck, I will show her how wrong she is (and pigs fly!!!).
So is there anything else I am suppose to put here?
Hi all.

I guess she can't stop you anyway, huh?alexiarose wrote:OnceConvinced wrote:Welcome AlexiaRose. Your mother must have a lot of faith in you to allow you into this battleground.
"Ha Ha Ha", said the spider to the fly. No silly billy, mom has no faith. But that is ok, I think God loves her anyways. Now, if I could just get her to understand that:

Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.
Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.
There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.

I have been reading a few of your posts. You seem to be much more openminded and less Fundi of a Christian. I believe we may have much in common. I look forward to reading more of your thoughts.

So is it some initiation ritual that everyone reads into what you type or attacks you only because you are Christian? Gosh, I think my old Anatomy and Physiology instructor had more patience than this and he was a monotone drone!!!!

Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.

Don't take it personal. We are here to debate. Being funny is ok, but make sure you get your point across clear.alexiarose wrote:So is it some initiation ritual that everyone reads into what you type or attacks you only because you are Christian?
