tattooing

-Tattoos: culturally accepted norm and spite against god?

-I've always been told that (if god exists) he doesn't favor symbolism outside the christian church. Much less anything that takes away from worshiping him.

-As askew as this topic sounds, are tattoo's really that diminishing to the body spiritually?

I've nothing against tattooing as a whole, but some tatoos are distracting, distasteful, and/or vulgar, and that I do have a problem with, just not a big one.

My real problem is with piercings, but not for any religious thing, I just have an irrational, yet intense dislike of them... probably relating to my ocd, and/or a phobia.

I actually have trouble looking at people with piercings, and would certainly never get one myself.

Tattoos are a different story, yes I do find them a bit "ehh"... but I do have plans of getting a pentagram on my shoulder, not the blade but more like my upper arm.

I actually have a general dislike/fear of "fancy" things: Jewelry, silverware, paisley patterns, etchings, some kinds of makeup, especially the clowny kind... but that has more to do with my other phobia, shirts that have things written on them/pictures, certain kinds of pasta...

Yeah I know I'm weird, but I got over it... I recommend you do the same.

I have a couple tattoos; I got it before I really knew it was against the Christian faith. When someone confronts me about my tattoos (it’s easily seen with short sleeve shirts), I question some of the things they do to their very own bodies. I have had chain smokers tell me it’s immoral. Yet, they smoke cigarette after cigarette destroying their lungs and increasing their risks of cancer and other health related complications. Some of these people drink in front of me or are on some type of heavy prescription drugs. Others have been fat, overweight and even obese and will eat so much food it will make you wish you were anorexic.
Sometimes the tattoos I have feel just as much a part of me as they do my faith.

Sometimes my mood changes and my tattoos are right there to aid and comfort my feelings. I have one that is pretty wicked, so when I’m feeling down, I’m feeling really down and I have another of a Cross that I need to get redone. So when I’m feeling up I feel like I’m on cloud 9.
I would not recommend getting a tattoo to anyone. If I knew any better I probably would have never gotten the ones I have, but I’m kind of stuck with them now so it’s just something I have to live with.

Seems pretty clear to me. I don't think God was undecided about this one. And I don't think he was in favor of it either, or God would have corrected His holy Word in the New Testament.
