The 'Abomination of Desolation' was the Crucifixion

The 'Abomination of Desolation' was the Crucifixion...

Mark 13:14
"But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judæa flee to the mountains:"

That is what I believe.

If Jerusalem is Mystery Babylon, is she still a holy place?

No.

When it comes to Daniel's 70 weeks prophecies, most folks have their minds made up and will not budge no matter how many facts, verses, evidence, etc. are presented.

I am unsure if I wish to continue much longer on this topic as I am very busy.

I will go ahead and respond to #19 and #20 in my next post.

JehovahsWitness wrote: Wed Apr 30, 2025 5:17 pm WHO OR WHAT WAS "THE HOLY PLACE"?
In the context of Matthew 24:15 and Mark 13:14, the 'holy place' and 'standing where it ought not' would be referring to Jesus since he has become the Temple...

Revelation 21:22
"And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it."

The Holy Place is no longer here on this planet. Earthly Jerusalem is then replaced by New Jerusalem in the New Heavens and New Earth.
LUKE 21:20 , 21
However, when you see Jerusalem surrounded by encamped armies, then know that the desolating of her has drawn near.21Then let those in Ju·deʹa begin fleeing to the mountains, let those in the midst of her leave, and let those in the countryside not enter into her
LUKE 19:43

Because the days will come upon you when your enemies will build around you a fortification of pointed stakes and will encircle you and besiege you from every side.
As I demonstrated earlier in the thread, the desolation of Jerusalem was the result of the Crucifixion, i.e., the abomination of desolation. The two events are separated by several decades.

The word 'see' in Matthew 24:15 and Mark 13:14 is to be interpreted as 'see spiritually and understand', *not* 'see physically with the eyes'.

This is what the phrase 'let him who readeth understand' is there to point out. It is meant for those that understood Daniel's 1260, 1290 and 1335 prophecies. They had until 1335 (the siege) to plan ahead and move and rebuild their lives far away from Jerusalem. A few understood and tried to warn others...

Daniel 11:31-33
"And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days."

There you see it right in front of your face. After the abomination that maketh desolate (the Crucifixion), there were those that 'do know their God' and 'shall be strong' etc. They that understand Daniel (let him who readeth understand) will instruct many. Get it? They 'see'. They are 'seers'. They did their best to warn, but the ones who were warned 'fell by the sword', etc. many days, i.e., 70 AD.

No, he doesn't. That is your embellishment of the text.

JehovahsWitness wrote: Wed Apr 30, 2025 5:43 pm Jesus did not say in whose eyes the city was considered "holy". Tha fact of the matter is that Jerusalem was referred to as "the holy city" and even though it had lost the privilegeof such a name some 35 years before, the Jewish people still viewed it as such in 70 CE. (Mt 4:5; 27:53)
Like I mentioned in the last post, Earthly Jerusalem may have been holy at one point, but She has been superseded by New Jerusalem, which exists now in the New Heavens and New Earth.

Moreover, Earthly Jerusalem is now symbolic of the womb of the Harlot, which is another topic entirely.

She gives birth to those in bondage...

Galatians 4:24
"Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar."

and...

Galatians 4:25
"For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children."

  • Earth is Mystery Babylon.
  • Earthly Jerusalem is her Womb.
  • The Jerusalem Temple is the Zygote (Body Temple) inside of the Womb.
That is the symbology of Mystery Babylon in a nutshell.

Lol... I just realized something.

Do the anti-Trinitarians even notice that you have ONE temple, yet it is made of at least TWO things?

The Father and Son are One. And, since they both share the same Spirit, that makes them THREE IN ONE.

The Trinity is right there!

O:)

So the "holy city" can be a retrospective reference to that point rather than her status in the eyes of God at the time of fulfillment.

It's not clear to me...when Luke wrote the word JERUSALEM above, to whom (or what) did the word Jerusalem refer?

Jerusalem in Luke 21:30 refered to ...

(a) The first century Judean city
(b) Jesus Christ
(c) The execution of Christ
(d) other...please provide a one or two word identification (for example "Governor Pilate" or The Roman soldiers")

But I do not need to rely on them. Scripture makes the timeline plain and easy to understand in a single verse...

Revelation 12:6
"And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days."

The 'wilderness' is the same wilderness that the Israelites fled to in Exodus. The 'place prepared' is the Tabernacle. It is all laid out for us. No need for mental gymnastics.

It even goes further...

Revelation 12:15
"And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood."

The Serpent in this context is Pharaoh, the 'Dragon'...

Ezekiel 29:3
"Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself."

The 'flood' is the flood of ungodly men that pursued the Israelites. Earth helped and 'swallowed' Pharaoh's armies in the Red Sea...

Revelation 12:16
"And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth."

It is all there. This is not a future event as so many believe.

1260 is what God gave us, not man. I would rather believe the Bible.
I don't see that it is "all laid out for us." You have given those verses your own opinion as to what they mean. Revelation is 95% symbolic, and what you have chosen to highlight is symbolic of things that are to happen in the "Lord's Day," which we are in now. (Rev.1:10) Revelation itself tells us that the things within it are to happen in the Lord's Day---the "last days." It does not go back to ancient occurrences.
